Ridge Jefferson, former Navy SEAL and current Fugitive Recovery Specialist, is exactly what I don't need. I shouldn't get hot and bothered by his all-around tough-guy image. I shouldn't crave his thick, muscled arms. I definitely shouldn't stare at his ass every time he walks out of a room. But I do.
And with him next door, and two new wild best friends down the road, I'm on my way to making a perfect life in this small town on the coast of Maine.
Until my past decides it wants me dead.
Security Risk Pelican Bay Security #1 written by Megan Matthews 5 stars
Once again Megan Matthews does not disappoint...she even stepped up her game with this read! I absolutely loved everything about this book except that I'm done and now anxiously awaiting book 2 of the series. I laughed, cried, felt compassion, heartache, fear, betrayal, loyalty, love and friendship right along with Tabitha and Ridge.
“My salvation lies straight ahead. Exit number six —Pelican Bay. It took one week and 1,965 miles of driving, but I’ve successfully left my life in Westford, Oklahoma. I’ve had a full week to clear my head and leave my previous poor choices behind me. One hour south of the Canadian border rests the sleepy seaside town of Pelican Bay. The town where I’ll begin my new life. A smarter life. A happier life. A quiet life.”
Tabitha thought she was escaping her old life for good and starting a quiet, normal life. Little did she know she was going from a life where she was kept from everyone to a small town where everyone knew your business and was working the “town phone tree” as soon as you did anything. She also was expecting to find great friends that would have her back shortly after arriving in Pelican Bay. The biggest bonus for her was her ex Navy SEAL~ now security and fugitive recovery specialist neighbor Ridge who was not a tough sight to see.
Tabitha starts settling into her home that her Aunt Gertie left her. Was learning what it was like to have girlfriends. Tabitha was enjoying her time with her neighbor Ridge, his family and employees. She was starting to think she could start over and leave her past behind….secrets always have a way of coming out and can catching up with you.
“Once I leave the comfort of this truck, my ruse is finished. There’s no way a guy like Ridge will get messed up with a girl like me. I’m not carrying baggage. I’m hauling a whole freight train of complications.”
Will Tabitha’s secret put her friends in danger? Will Ridge forgive her for keeping her past from him? Will Tabitha have to leave Pelican Bay and those she has come to care for and get attached to so she can keep them safe from her past?
Great start to this new series!!!
**Received ARC for a fair and honest review**
Security Risk is the first book in the Pelican Bay Security series by Megan Matthews. I’d rate this book at 4.75 stars!!
Tabitha Thompson has had it with her boyfriends abuse and not only moves out, but takes a little money to help her get away from him. Not only does she move out but she moves across country to Pelican Bay Maine. When she arrives to the house she was left by her aunt, she ends up meeting her new hot, sexy neighbor Ridge Jefferson. When Ridge (or Ridley) meets his sexy new neighbor he’s completely infatuated by her. But when he finds out she’s in trouble he will not stop trying to help her out of it.
This was such a fun read— gives you humor, suspense and romance all in just the right amounts! I breezed right through the book, was hard to put down! I really enjoyed the characters. Even though she’s been through her fair share of issues, you see her character evolving in the story, which I rather enjoyed. And how do you not enjoy a male counterpart that is not only tall, dark and handsome, but also kind, caring, accepting, but still an alpha male/guys guy. Then there are the sub characters! I really am looking forward/hoping they each get their own stories! The storyline was good, kept you interested, didn’t lag and didn’t drag out unnecessarily. The only gripe I can come up with, is right when they finally get together the story ends, there is an epilogue, but it really didn’t give you real closure. I’ve been noticing that a lot lately... just something that personally irks me. Can’t wait for the next book! Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
