Seemingly nothing in this world daunts the young criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl. In the fairy world, however, there is a small thing that has gotten under his skin on more than one occasion: Opal Koboi. In The Last Guardians, the evil pixie is wreaking havoc yet again. This time his arch rival has somehow reanimated dead fairy warriors who were buried in the grounds of Fowl Manor. Their spirits have possessed Artemis's little brothers, making his siblings even more annoying than usual. The warriors don't seem to realize that the battle they were fighting when they died-a battle against Artemis--is long over. Artemis has until sunrise to get the spirits to vacate his brothers and go back into the earth where they belong. Can he count on a certain LEPrecon fairy to join him in what could well be his last stand? New York Times best-selling author and comic genius Eoin Colfer will leave Artemis Fowl fans gasping up to the very end of this thrilling finale to the blockbuster series.
This is my favorite book series of all time. Eoin Colfer (pronounced "Owen") takes a comical concept and takes it very seriously while still intertwining the books with so much of a very unique style of humor. So many memories of my life surround these books and now the series is ending, so you can be certain that I will buy this book, and I recommend the entire series to anyone of any gender, age 9 to 99.
A great ending to a beloved series.
I started reading this series when I was in high school, and now 5 years after my graduation, it has finally come to an end. This series has grown so much over the years, and I feel like I've gotten to grow and experience life right alongside Artemis, sharing in his adventures. But every story must have its ending, and I am proud to say this series has finally achieved that. If you have been with Artemis, Holly, and Butler from the beginning, you will feel elation and especially at the end, admiration for what Eoin Colfer has done. Artemis makes some truly life altering decisions in this book, and it is those selfless acts that make you realize he has finally grown up. I can say now that it is truly time for us to part ways with Artemis and his friends, they are well looked after and will forever live in our hearts and minds. Thank you Eoin Colfer for these wonderful adventures, and thank you Artemis Fowl, for sharing your life with us.
The last Artemis Fowl book
I have really enjoyed reading this series since it began. The books on a whole seemed to contain the perfect amount of adventure, magic, fairy lore and wit all backdropped in Ireland. This last book was good but did not seem up to the standards of the previous installments of this compelling saga. I don't know about others but this reader felt kinda cheated with the cyclical ending that seems to be an overdone trend in the literary world.
