Sanaa Griffin had everything — close friends, a caring family, and her dream job at a competitive agency in the last city on Earth. But when she wishes for love and excitement on New Year's Eve, the gods decide to reward her in the cruelest way possible. Ripped from the job she always loved, she's reassigned to work for the mysterious Mark Sakai. Her task: spy on the corrupt leaders of the city who are playing politics and killing their enemies in the hopes of earning a ticket on the first ship off the planet. War looms on the horizon, and Sanaa must help Sakai determine the key players and their weak spots before they tear the city apart.
Mark Sakai has many plans for Sanaa that will take her into a web of lies and danger. With the help of Jiro, a man who teaches her self defense while stealing her heart, Sanaa realizes Mark Sakai is holding back important truths about her life, her job, and the biggest secret of all, her family legacy. Can she keep her family safe and her city at peace as the great exodus from Earth begins?
REMOVED is the first book in a captivating post-apocalyptic series that harnesses the cultures and traditions of Japan and sweeps them into the future between Earth and a faraway land.
"If you are afraid of Science Fiction, this is the book for you!"
"I couldn’t put it down, but more importantly, it made me think."
"I'm not usually one for Sci-Fi, but this was great. Just enough to be interesting, but not so much to be 'way' out there."
"This book is definitely worth the read, I could hardly put it down in the 2 days it took me to read it and over a week later, I'm still thinking about all the characters."
"It is full of surprises. The book unfolds slowly at first, but becomes more gripping as suspenseful as it goes."
REMOVED "explodes in a final action scene worthy of the cinema."
The Nogiku Series will make you fall in love with Japan and all of its cultures and traditions, from kimonos, sake, and swords to romance, sex, and secrets.
I loved the mix of Japanese culture with the scifi/fantasy element. My interest was held throughout the story, though I generally like a slightly faster pace in my fiction. Very good writing, fun!
Wow, I am surprised how much I liked this simple seeming book. I love the way it is written, in the first person of our delightful, unlikely hero. I am very eager to read more of this story.
Really different and that's a good thing!
Although I'm a constant reader, at first I thought I was not going to like this as Japan only means Pearl Harbor and rudeness in a crowd to me. I also thought it was written for teenage girls from the main character.
Man, was I wrong!!!
A wonderful insight on the unending beauty of Japanese culture intertwined with science fiction (which I love) and a marvelous drama of families, love and life.
Read every moment I was able till I got here, at the end of "Removed"
As soon as I post this I'm going to buy "Released" and read on.
Highly recommend it and bet you all my stock in Saudi oil that you'll buy the entire series also. READ and ENJOY!!!
