For anyone who is involved in producing live events this is pure gold! Kile Ozier is a master in the field (so to speak). His methodology for capturing and moving an audience is original and unique. The fact that he is sharing his "secret sauce" makes this book a must read! However, what makes this most special is the candor from which Mr. Ozier speaks. While reading his collection you get that he truly does care about making a difference on this planet. He assures us that the power of spectacle will continue to illicit wonder and awe as we gather humanity together to celebrate.
I just love being in Kile's mind, and heart-as he takes us through his process of creation! I have been lucky to have experienced, firsthand, some of these spectacular events to which he speaks--and there is no.better.producer! This book takes one through the steps Kile takes from conception to production--so for anyone who wants to master the creative process, or at least to understand... This fascinating and graphically gorgeous iBook will both educate and entertain.
This is the primer on live entertainment
I've worked professionally with Kile Ozier, but it felt more like a master class -- and I've been doing this stuff for a quarter of a century.
Kile is the expert on what makes audiences respond on an emotional level to events and experiences. This book compiles some of his best insights. If you're involved in live media, event entertainment, or placemaking, this is required reading.
It's concise and readable, well-illustrated, and as a bonus there are embedded video presentations that help articulate the concepts he describes.
He covers a variety of subjects, advancing from the basic (but often overlooked) stuff like challenging what we think we already know, then progresses through the deliberate disorientation of the audience, how emotional messages resonate in crowds, the use of subtle cues (and otherwise...) then moves into more detailed matter like what a producer's job is in live events, and some thoughts on the recent London Olympics ceremonies.
IMHO is not a textbook -- it doesn't cover technical matters or ever aspect of the business. That's the kind of thing you learn on the job. Rather, this is a collection of easy-to-miss but vitally important insights into what makes an event into an experience.
