Disappointed

I don’t know where to start. My expectations were so high based on the cover alone. The cover was very ominous, as was the summary. The book was nothing like what I expected. A three star rating is pretty generous for me. I would have given it 2.5 if I could. The writing was very good. Hell I even liked the characters. All of them. The story had potential, but lack substance for me. Nothing was really connecting for me. Not even the passion between Slade and Alea. Lots of sex. Which was expected, but that seemed to be the real story. I expected Ramses to rain hell down on New York, but he was just immature. When Slade finally unleashed his beast, I hoped I could experience it. Instead Ramses talk about what was going to happen. Ramses was obsessed with Alea, Slade’s wife. Alea and Slade’s first meeting involved a supernatural connection. They were destined to be together. Ramses spent his time having a tantrum all over New York pinning for everything Slade had. I found it difficult to get through the book. It became repetitive and boring. I was determined to finish because the writing was good and I hoped for a miracle. The execution of the story was not good at all. I don’t feel comfortable enough to recommend, but others feel differently based on the ratings.
