Arrest Me, Please!
I seem to be on a roll lately with all of my 5 Orgasm reviews. Ooops, did I just give my rating away? Oh well, anyway, it's not that I'm easy. It's just that I've read some simply amazing books of late, I tend to pick what I like to read, and by authors I love as well. This book, or books as it were, is no exception. Here we have the first two books in the In The Arms Of The Law series by Kacey Hammell, as well as 2 shorts.
In Illusions, Isabella Knowles is constantly harassed by well-meaning family about her single status. When they see an article in the paper about her and good friend Brady, a PI, who is seen cozied up with her, they come to conclusions about that. While she denies it, she's been secretly sleeping with him for the past three months. Izzy wants nothing to do with a relationship, she just wants her job as a cop, and a friends with benefits arrangement with Brady, who is also a psychic for the police department, on the side. But what happens when the lines start to blur? When someone close is taken by a killer, Izzy realizes she just might have feelings for Brady.
Tied Up is a short about Izzy and Brady and a special night. Silk scarves and handcuffs may be involved.
In Awakenings, Alicia Knowles still hasn't gotten over what happened to her six months earlier. It's made her a danger on the job, and her captain and ex-lover Cole Douglass has no choice but to act on it. But a dangerous killer has gotten away, and a 10 year old boys life hangs in the balance. Can she just ignore all of that? A tragedy with Cole brings them closer together, but for how long? Will she ever realize what she has right in front of her?
And in Wild Thunder, we get a quick glimpse into what is hopefully the next story in the series. This one about Ethan James. He's taken time off the force to lick his wounds after being rejected by Izzy. An old friend with benefits shows up at his door after her car breaks down in a storm and she has to walk to get to him. Ethan and Shelby get lost in each other for the night, and Ethan prefers to be called Sir. This story was quick, and ended on a cliffy, more to come I hope!
Overall, this was a great book, though those Knowles women could be positively infuriating at times. But you have to love a woman who is addicted to coffee, I so get it! Which says a lot for Kacey's writing when you want to throttle a character one minute and love them the next.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
