Independence Day

Book 5, A Dewey Andreas Novel - A Dewey Andreas Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Dewey Andreas, former Delta and newly recruited intelligence agent, is sidelined after screwing up his last two operations. Still drowning in grief after the tragic murder of his fiancé, Dewey has seemingly lost his focus, his edge, and the confidence of his superiors.

A high level Russian hacker, known only as Cloud, is believed to be routing large amounts of money to various Al Qaeda terror cells, and the mission is to capture and render harmless Cloud. At the same time, a back-up team is sent after the only known associate of Cloud, a ballerina believed to be his girlfriend. Unwilling to sit out the mission as ordered, Dewey defies his superiors, and goes rogue, surreptitiously following and tracking the two teams. What should be a pair of simple snatch and grab operations, goes horribly wrong--both teams are ambushed and wiped out. Only through the unexpected intervention of Dewey does the ballerina survive.

On the run, with no back-up, Cloud's girlfriend reveals a shocking secret--a plot so audacious and deadly that their masterminds behind it would risk anything and kill anybody to prevent its exposure. It's a plot that, in less than three days, will completely remake the world's political landscape and put at risk every single person in the Western world. With only three days left, Dewey Andreas must unravel and stop this plot or see everything destroyed. A plot that goes live on July 4th--Independence Day.

From Publishers Weekly

Mar 30, 2015 – Compelling characters, a wealth of technical detail, and ticking-clock suspense make bestseller Coes's fifth Dewey Andreas novel (after 2013's Eye for an Eye) one of the year's best thrillers. CIA director Hector Calibrisi draws the ex-Delta operative turned CIA agent back into action from Dewey's hometown of Castine, Maine, where he retreated after the death of his fianc e six months earlier. Dewey winds up searching for a genius Russian computer hacker, Pyotr Vargarin (aka Cloud), who's acquired a nuclear weapon and is bent on wreaking revenge for earlier ill treatment at American hands. Cloud has hacked his way into the CIA computer system and is always one step ahead as bodies pile up and Dewey goes off the grid to save the U.S. The attack is scheduled for the Fourth of July, which gives Dewey and his comrades only a few days to stop Cloud. Last-minute twists ratchet up the tension as the book races to the final confrontation. 100,000-copy first printing.

Customer Reviews

One of Coe's best

I think this is one of the best of Dewy's adventures. It builds unbelievably to a nail biting conclusion.

Good work Ben

Dewey is sometimes over described but this time we spent less time on Dewey due to the strong plot. Thnks for a fun read..

Great read

Devoured the book in two days. Only regret is that we have to wait another year for the next Dewey saga.
