Ren is technically a Dark-Hunter but he is also much more. Kateri is an academic who does not believe in the supernatural. She grew up listening to her grandmother telling her stories of their Native American heritage, but she thought them just tales. When her life goes off the rails, and she meets the man she has been dreaming about for years, she realizes those stories are in fact mostly reality. Ren and Kateri must come together to stop a prophecy that will unleash hell on earth. Will Ren be able to keep the evil he once let control him at bay? Will Kateri find the unknown power in herself to save the world? This is a good book which diverges from the normal Daimon storyline. A few of our favorites do make appearances, but the story told is about a different pantheon for the most part.
What happening to this series?
I'm surprised my eyes aren't stuck looking at the back of my head from the number of times I rolled them. The dark hunter books used to be original and thrilling. Now they are trite at best. It's so disappointing to read the most recent books and feel that no effort was put into them. Maybe Sherrilyn should write fewer books a year so that the novels are worth reading. The story is interesting, but the writing makes it hard to stomach.
