Jinn and Juice

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Cursed to be a jinni for a thousand years, Lyla nears the end of her servitude -- only to be bound once again against her will. Will she risk all to be human?
Born in ancient Persia, Lyla turned to her house Jinni, Kouros, for help escaping an arranged marriage. Kouros did make it impossible for her to marry -- by cursing Lyla to live a thousand years as a Jinni herself.

If she can remain unBound, Lyla's curse will soon be over.

Unfortunately, becoming Bound may risk more than just her chance to be human once more -- it could risk her very soul...

Jinn and Juice is the first in a new series by fantasy writer, Nicole Peeler set in a world of immortal curses, vengeful jinni and belly dancing.

From Publishers Weekly

Feb 23, 2015 – Peeler (the Jane True series) kicks off a series with this entertaining urban fantasy, which populates Pittsburgh with all sorts of interesting mythological creatures. For 1,000 years, Lyla has been cursed to live as a jinn, serving whoever can bind her with the right spells. But now the end has come: if she's unbound in a week's time, she'll be human once more. So when Ozan "Oz" Sawyer captures her, she's rightfully miffed. But he needs her power and help to rescue the missing daughter of an old friend, and despite initial objections, Lyla is surprised by how much she likes Oz. As they work together, they discover that something weird is happening in Pittsburgh, and the entire magical community is at risk from those who would enslave, exploit, or destroy its members. Mindful of her impending deadline, Lyla must rally her friends and unleash her full power to save the city. Peeler gets points for the originality of the premise, but loses some for the predictability in both the urban fantasy plot and the obligatory romance.

Customer Reviews

Fun, magic, romance

This book was a real treat. Lyla is a great character, and a fun take on the jinni legend. I love the magic Pittsburgh that Peeler has created. Oz, the Irish/Turkish magi, is a great romantic interest, too. He’s smart and kind, and has a very good reason for binding Lyla to him, which is a nice twist on what could be a creepy relationship. I can’t wait for more books in this series.
