Customer Reviews

A short but hot romance that was very satisfying to read.

Reviewed Off Limits by Nicole R. Locker:

Off Limits is part of a seven book contemporary romance anthology called Just the Tip. This story was a fun look at the bonds of friendship and the power of lust. Laynie is a loyal friend and has always adhered to the rules of the girl code, unfortunately there is just one code that she finds herself struggling with when she unexpectedly came face to face with her guilty secret, Gideon Roth. Laynie had a crush on Gideon when they were in college but he was with her best friend at the time and she had to stuff those feelings deep inside herself. Then, to make things worse, Gideon broke her BFF’s heart which made him doubly off limits no matter how long ago it was. Despite knowing the codes, and all the reasons that lusting after Gideon was a bad idea, Laynie struggled when Gideon took up a relentless pursuit of her.

The start of every chapter had a different “girl code” which was a great way to begin them because the codes were hilarious and I looked forward to reading them. Both Laynie and Gideon were interesting characters who were quite entertaining in their interactions. There was also a mystery affecting a resident of a retirement home that added a little something extra to the story, although my heart hurt for the elderly resident. As far as the girl code, I was not too caught up with Laynie and her “off limits” thoughts about Gideon but only because so much time had already passed. It would have been more impactful, for me, if Gideon’s relationship with the BFF had ended five to seven years prior instead of almost two decades prior. Overall though, Off Limits was a short but hot romance that was very satisfying to read.

Netflix, leftover chocolate cake, and The Golden Girls

I’m glad I stepped away from Netflix to read Boundaries by Hettie Ivers which is part of “Just the Tip” (my will power was weaker when it came to the chocolate chip muffin I had). All I say is “wow” and TGIP (thank God I’m pregnant- already). Not many people can make contracts with sub-sections and addendums seem hot. Also, I love that Hettie creates characters that aren’t perfect and that a reader can relate to. Mason’s mom could easily be my mom. I only wish her little novella was longer.

On another note, thank you getting The Golden Girls theme song back in my head. 😒
