Justice League, Vol 2: The Villain's Journey
Book 2, Justice League: The New 52! (Volumes)
Geoff Johns and Others
This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
The Justice League is the greatest force for good the world has ever seen. But not everyone sees them that way.
Their never-ending battle against evil results in casualties beyond its super-powered, costumed combatants. The League’s attempts to safeguard innocent lives cannot save everybody. Unbeknownst to Earth’s greatest champions, their greatest triumph may contain the seeds of their greatest defeat.
For heroes are not the only people who face tragedy and are reborn as something greater than they were before. Villains can take this journey, too.
And once they start out on this dark path, the road could lead straight to the destruction of the Justice League….
The New York Times bestselling team of Geoff Johns (Green Lantern) and Jim Lee (Batman: Hush) are joined by artists Gene Ha (Top 10) and Carlos D'Anda (Deathblow) for JUSTICE LEAGUE VOL. 2: THE VILLAIN'S JOURNEY, collecting issues #7-12 of the series. Can the world’s greatest super heroes survive a voyage deep into the heart of darkness? It all ends with one of the most shocking … and surprising moments in DC history!
I enjoyed this book very much, but I liked the first novel better
Like the collection, but I wish I had purchased them through DC comics instead. Swiping from panel to panel just makes for a better read than having to zoom in when reading on ibooks. And really why do they even mention the "hardcover" aspect?
Still an awesome series
So if you've read my review of the first volume of "Justice League", then you know that I find it awesome. So what about Volume 2? Well it's good like the first one, but I do have a little more problems with this one. Let me get down to it.
The stuff I like:
1.) I like that it shows how Victor Stone doesn't have much a life now that he's become Cyborg; he just gets upgraded at S.T.A.R. Labs and says very little to his father.
2.) It's kind of like the Bruce Timm version of the Justice League. It leaves quite a cliffhanger with Amanda Waller, and how the world sees the Justice League differently at the end of this story. There's even a bit of what Frank Miller did in "The Dark Knight Returns".
3.) A pretty obvious reason: Superman and Wonder Woman kiss for the first time. As you may know by now, I'm a Clark and Diana shipper. I do think this was a little forced, but there was some chemistry between the two of them. Now they have their own series together, which we all know has been awesome.
4.) Where this series was starting to go. If you've been reading "Green Lantern", then you know that he's not a member of the Justice League anymore. As I stated in Reason #2, I find it interesting how the world has mixed feelings about them.
The stuff I don't like:
1.) Why does the world think the Justice League can do things like helps out with the economy?
2.) I think the villain is a little weak. He has an awesome design, but I think that his motive isn't that strong.
Geoff Johns is still doing a good job with this series, but I'm wondering what the series will be like after "Forever Evil", even during the five years later event. One thing's for sure: I know I'll be continue collecting this series in the future.
