The Kameoka Diaries: Volume One is a humorous account of the author's experiences living and working in Central Japan. It was written and illustrated by Lars Martinson, author of the award-winning graphic novel Tonoharu.
This high-definition e-comic is comprised of 244 crisp, Retina Display-quality panels, and employs a responsive layout that adapts for optimal viewing on both iPhone and iPad displays.
If you've ever wondered what teaching English is like in Japan, here's the comic for you. Witty, heartfelt, and insightfully honest, Lars gives you his perspective on the zaniness that is educating in Japan.
If you enjoy this, you should absolutely check out Tonoharu volumes 1 and 2 for stories in a similar vein.
Genuine, Funny, You'll Wish You Were There
A really great portrayal of the ups/downs of living in Japan. This book is guaranteed to make you smile, but I personally read it for it's sentiment, as it is done in a way that makes you feel the author is talking and sharing these stories directly to you.
I'm a fan
I taught English in Japan for a year and this reminds me so much of my own experience (and why I left as soon as I could).
I like Lars' style - his drawings, what he chooses to focus on, his narration. I'm looking forward to the next volume.
I also recommend the print books Tonoharu vols. 1 and 2.
