Description

Five brave military heroes have survived the hell of a Taliban prison to return home—and take on civilian missions no one else can. They’re the men of ARES Security. Highly skilled, intimidating, invincible, and one by one, tested again and again . . .

Lucas St. Clair’s prestigious family had a political future neatly planned out for him—one that didn’t include his high school sweetheart, Mia Ramon. Under their pressure, Lucas gave her up. But since surviving captivity, he’s a changed man—and a crucial member of ARES Security. When he discovers a dead man clutching a picture of Mia that bears a threatening message, his fiercest protective instincts kick in, and he knows he must go to her.

Mia has never forgiven Lucas for breaking her heart, and she’s convinced her feelings for him are in the past. But it’s soon clear that isn’t true for either of them. Now, determined to solve the crime and keep Mia safe, with his ARES buddies backing him up, Lucas will have to reconstruct the murder victim’s last days—and follow a lethal trail that leads right back to the fate of the woman he still loves . . .

“A fantastic blend of romance and suspense . . . thrilling to the end.” —Mary Burton, USA Today bestselling author on Kill Without Mercy

From Publishers Weekly

Dec 05, 2016 – Ivy's second Ares Security romantic thriller (after Kill Without Mercy) hits the sweet spot for readers who like their alpha males extremely but not preternaturally competent and driven to protect the women they love, and their heroines strong and independent but willing to accept that protection when it comes in a caring, sexy package. Lucas St. Claire is appalled when an old acquaintance from his hometown of Shreveport, La., is discovered shot a few blocks from Lucas's Houston apartment. The dead man is clutching a photo of Mia Ramon, the girlfriend Lucas dumped for family reasons but never quite got over; the photo is marked "Kill her or else." Lucas rushes to Mia's side to investigate, watch over her, and try to restart the relationship he rejected. Mia and Lucas's renewed and mutually desired connection provides an appealing mix of emotional warmth and erotic heat. The involvement of the men of Ares Security is key in moving the investigation forward, but their brotherly camaraderie feels blander and less essential than in the first book, and the mystery's solution is ultimately presented as a monologue by the villain.

Customer Reviews

A heated mystery

I received this ARC for an unbiased review. Even though it wasn't my favorite by Alexandra Ivy, I still enjoyed it. She lets you know who is the killer, but the hard part is finding the evidence. This book us about unraveling the clues. Ivy is well known for her sex scenes, and she still knows how to write one. If you like a different twist on a mystery novel, you will like this book.

Great story with amazing action, and a sweltering romance

Rich kid and a heir to St. Clair legacy, Lucas, fell hard for the maid’s daughter, Mia. His family would never approve but that didn’t matter to Lucas. So, why did he break her heart and disappear out of her life forever only to show back up years later.

Mia never forgave Lucas for breaking her heart.

When a man dies near Lucas’s ARES office with Mia’s name in his pocket, Lucas will stop at nothing to protect Mia. Even if means bring his entire ARES Security team in to do it.

I’m a sucker for stories that reunite lost lovers. Lucas must worm his way back into Mia’s heart but what I enjoyed most was Lucas staying true to himself and just showed Mia that he has been there all along.

Great story with amazing action, and a sweltering romance, you can't go wrong with an Alexandra Ivy romantic suspense, unless its an Alexandra Ivy romantic fantasy...lets face it anything by Alexandra Ivy is my kind of read.

I received this ARC copy of Kill Without Shame from Kensington Books in exchange for a honest and voluntary review.

Good story, good series

This is a second chance love story with a lot of suspense. Mia has survived her hurt and past to build a successful business that she loves. Lucas left Mia because he thought she would be better off. When a mutual friend is murdered, the two come together again. Sparks fly but trust is elusive. Danger surrounds them as they admit their feelings. I loved Mia's strength of character to rise above her past and to admit her feelings as they grew. Lucas was so overprotective but smart enough to not stifle Mia. I recommend this book. It is second in a series, and having read the first, I also recommend the series. I look forward to more.

I received a copy through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
