Killer Look

An Alexandra Cooper Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

New York Times bestselling author Linda Fairstein delivers a heart-pounding thriller that explores the dark secrets of Manhattan's iconic fashion scene in her latest Alexandra Cooper novel.
New York City is one of the fashion capitals of the world, well-known for its glamour and style.  Nowhere is this more apparent than on the runway, where American haute couture continually astounds with its creativity, daring, and innovation in the name of beauty.  Yet high fashion means high stakes, as Alex Cooper quickly discovers when businessman and designer Wolf Savage is found dead in an apparent suicide, mere days before the biggest show of his career. When the man's daughter insists Savage’s death was murder, the case becomes more than a media sensation: It is a race to find a killer in a world created entirely out of fantasy and illusion.
With her own job at the DA's office in jeopardy, and the temptation to self-medicate her PTSD with alcohol almost too strong to resist, Alex is not anyone's first choice for help.  But she is determined to uncover the grime—and the possible homicide—beneath the glitz.  Along with detectives Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace, Alex must penetrate the twisted roots and mixed motives among the high-profile players in the Garment District.  The investigation takes the trio from the missing money in Wolf Savage's international fashion house to his own recovery from addiction; from the role of Louisiana Voodoo in his life to his excessive womanizing; and to the family secrets he kept so well-hidden, even from those closest to him—just as things are about to get deadly on the catwalk.
With Killer Look, Linda Fairstein proves once again why she is the “Queen of Intelligent Suspense.”*

From Publishers Weekly

May 23, 2016 – Bestseller Fairstein's lackluster 18th novel featuring ADA Alexandra "Coop" Cooper finds Coop traumatized by her recent kidnapping (in 2015's Devil's Bridge), jumping at every noise and self-medicating with alcohol. When a newly identified body of a young woman requires her lover, NYPD homicide detective Mike Chapman, to return to work, Coop pushes her way into the investigation despite the doubts from her and those around her of her readiness to deal with the aftermath of violent crimes. The apparent suicide of a high-fashion designer, Wolf Savage, interrupts the first case until the two victims are tied to each other. When the suicide starts to look like murder, Mike reluctantly allows Coop to help on the two cases. Shaky and unsure of herself, Coop navigates her way through the world of high fashion, scheming family members, and Wolf's complicated past as she deals with her own personal and professional issues. Fairstein is coasting in this entry, whose ending sets up the plot for the next installment, in which she'll hopefully return to form. Author tour.

Can't even finish it

I love this series and have read them all. But the characters don't even seem to be themselves in this book. I can't even finish it, it's so bad.

What A Stinker

I don't read many Fairstein novels. With this one I remember why. Mike is no detective and he is obnoxious to his girlfriend. Coop's character is under developed and is unlikeable. I don't want to finish reading.

I have to downgrade my rating; this book was terrible. Whatever is the point to the ending? I believe the author should hang it up and go back to being the chief of the Sex Crimes Unit.

I cannot believe how bad this is.
