Second in a new trilogy of Regency romances by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Grace Burrowes, featuring the daughters of an intrepid duke who conspires to see them married off.

Maggie Windham is the Duke of Moreland’s eldest, but illegitimate, daughter. She leads a retiring, dignified life... until stolen letters bring Maggie to investigator Benjamin Hazlit’s door. When it becomes clear Maggie is being blackmailed, Benjamin becomes determined to find not just the letters, but the way to Maggie’s heart.

From Publishers Weekly

Mar 05, 2012 – The delicious fifth book in Burrowes’s Regency series (after Lady Sophie’s Christmas Wish) centers on the illegitimate eldest daughter of the duke of Moreland. When Maggie’s reticule goes missing with critical items inside, she hires investigator and family friend Benjamin Hazlit to recover it quickly and quietly. Hiding their working relationship behind a facade of courtship, the two share tea, confidences, and tingling kisses until Maggie realizes that her feelings for Benjamin mean she must fire him to protect him from a figure she’d hoped to leave in the past. Burrowes delivers red-hot chemistry with a masterful mix of playfulness and sensuality, and her themes of healing and familial strength give this page-turner unusual depth. Charming and original with superb characters ready to walk off the page, this is a splendid addition to any Regency fan’s bookshelf.

Customer Reviews

Another solid Gace Burrowes book

While I enjoyed the book (I've never been disappointed with Grace Burrowes's books) I did find the plot to be very close to that of the first book. All the same, what I love about the books still remain. I love the true closeness and love shared by the Windham siblings as well as their strength. In a period in which by-blows are often kept under wraps it is nice to see a case where a blended family works and even flourishes. I was glad to see Maggie, the oldest female by-blow depicted in the manner in which she was. There was no animosity or resentment of her on anyone's part. She was strong, passionate and an interesting heroine.
