Last Stop At Paradise
Book 3, Shellwater Key Tales - Shellwater Key Tales (Book 3)
This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
“For a while I thought maybe I was supposed to help all the lost souls wandering the halls of The Paradise,” Noah said, with self-deprecating humor…
“They’ve all told me how much you’ve counseled them,” Callie said. “There’s a reason everyone thinks you’re an angel.”
“Yes, but now I realize it wasn’t just about them.” His gaze centered on her. “I think maybe I was supposed to wait for something else. For someone else.”
When Callie Dalton’s charismatic, televangelist husband falls into disgrace, Callie goes down with him. Now he’s dead, leaving Callie to face the wrath of the public alone. With nowhere else to go, she takes her two young children and escapes to a place she’s spent most of her life trying to forget.
Shellwater Key holds memories of sweet childhood friendships…and the tragic death of her mother. Most everyone is horrified when Callie moves back in to the same house where her mother died, but after the scandal her options are limited. Except that same house now comes with a bonus…a handsome “pool boy” with changeable eyes, a killer smile, and shoulders wide enough to carry every one of her burdens.
Noah Johnson isn’t actually a pool boy. He’s the carpenter and resident “angel” at The Paradise Dinner Theatre, now owned by her friend, Layla McCarthy. After a disastrous and humiliating job hunt, Noah helps engineer a position as House Manager at the theatre. A chance to start over is an answer to prayer, but every instinct warns that proximity to the sexy and enigmatic Noah could be the most dangerous complication to Callie's life…and her wary heart. But when she learns the truth about Noah’s story and his former occupation, she's ready to run again. It will take a willingness to face her tragic past and embrace the possibilities of tomorrow for Callie to find the love that will finally set her free.
Third Installment in Shellwater Key
I received an advance copy for an honest review.
This was another delightful read by Kristin Wallace. Callie, one of three childhood friends, returns home to live in her childhood home where her mother died, after the death of her televangelist husband who had been arrested for bilking his faithful followers.
This is the story of soldiering on for the benefit of her children, and trying to overcome her own demons with the help of her two friends, who have each succeeded in reinventing themselves, forgiving friends and family along the way.
The author has a knack for pulling the reader into her storylines and making the characters friends of yours, rather than strangers you read about.
Another great trip to Shellwater Key
This is the best installment of the Shellwater Key series to date. Each book has built on the one before, and I've been waiting for Noah to get his own love interest. The series is about three childhood friends who have lost touch in elementary school. Each returns home to the Florida seaside town after a major life event has them returning to the memories and safety of their youth. We have met newcomer, jack-of-all-trades, and everyone's personal confidant, Noah, in previous books. In this book, the last of the trio, Callie, returns home and is drawn to Noah. She is coming off a scandal and the loss of her marriage, and Noah's backstory is finally revealed. It is a wonderful romance with a lovable secondary cast of characters. I enjoyed returning to Shellwater Key and look forward to whatever Ms. Wallace is writing next.
Get ready for Noah's backstory!
Kristin's books are heartfelt and usually make me tear up. This one made me cry. I'd been looking forward to finding out more about Noah Johnson since the very first book of the Shellwater Key series. I knew his backstory would be a good one, but I never suspected it would be so heart-breaking. I like how she includes religion in her books in a respectful way. This was an excellent end to the series, and I enjoyed it very much. (I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.)
