Two men - one wants to love her, the other wants to use her. Which will she choose?
Eighteen-year-old Emily Stanton is excited to attend this Season's balls and begin her search for a husband. She is thrilled when the dashing and handsome Connor Preston begins to court her. After each ball, Emily finds a love note in her drawstring reticule, and she expects a marriage proposal from Connor any day.
When her father objects and forces Emily to accept the proposal from Lady Tisbury's shy nephew, Ethan Richardson instead, her heart is broken. How can she love her new husband when her heart belongs to the man who wrote her such beautiful love letters?
Needed to have been proofread
Although the storyline of this book was decent -- I even teared up at one point -- it is in SERIOUS need of being proofread & edited.
There are certain grammar rules that even the CMoS still agrees need to be used, such as commas that separate clauses & adjectives in a series modifying a noun.
Not only that, but at nearly the end of one chapter (8, I think?) several pages of a previous chapter repeat themselves. Simple proofreading would have prevented that, which signals to me that little if any at all was done to this book before publishing.
Further that by both Connor's & Rigal's names being spelled differently (Conner & Regal instead) at least once each (actually, one misspelling of Connor that found his name was spelled both ways in the same sentence!). Again, simple proofreading would have caught that.
Such errors detract from a reader's "flow" as she reads, make her stop & think, "Wait. What?", and leave a lasting impression . . . & not of the kind an author should wish for.
Had to drag myself through this plotless, senseless book. This is not in any way a love story, just a bunch of useless dialogue and side stories that drag on and on. Don't waste your time on this one.

The writing was bad. I quit reading when one of the main characters' names changed spelling in the span of a paragraph.
