I hired her to fix my company, to bring Marks Lingerie back to life. I didn’t expect her to become my friend. I didn’t expect to fall in love with her.
The first rule of business is to never touch your employees. I think there is another rule about not falling for your best friend—a rule against imagining the curves of her body, or the way her breathing would change if I pulled down her panties and unzipped my pants.
Now, I can’t wait any longer. I’m tossing out the rules.
Damn the company.
Damn our friendship.
Damn my fears.
5 Plus Stars!
The definition of lingerie is “underwear, sleepwear, and other items of intimate apparal worn by women.” In Love in Lingerie, Trey Marks makes you want to go out and buy new lingerie because he is THAT good. He’s sexy as hell, he’s confident, he’s bossy, but most importantly he’s hopelessly in love with his best friend, Kate Martin. Trey is confident when it comes to making deals for his lingerie business. But when it comes to Kate he struggles with concealing his true feelings. Love in Lingerie is full of sexual tension, hot chemistry and enough flirting between the two to last a lifetime. Be sure to have a fan nearby because you are sure to need it to cool off while reading Love in Lingerie. You are guaranteed to laugh out loud and at the same time roll your eyes in frustration. You see, that is what Alessandra Torre does. In her writing she makes you feel so many things. No matter which book of hers you read you ALWAYS feel so many things, you ALWAYS want more and you are ALWAYS satisfied. Alessandra has proven over and over that she can write so many different styles of stories. Love in Lingerie is NO exception…my best read of 2017 so far!
If Love Were Lingerie....
Yep, Alessandra did it again! She never fails to impress me with the depth of her characters and the emotions that she drags from me. Kicking and screaming sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Trey Marks and Kate Martin were complex people, traveling through their lives in the way that feels the most "normal" and comfortable for them, until they meet each other. Kate interviews for a position in Trey's company, and from the start it is obvious there is a deep attraction between the two. But Trey has a strict no fraternization at work policy in place, so that should make it easier to work together, right?
Marks Lingerie had been a thriving company, but it has been struggling for the past several years. Can the creative and imaginative Kate help bring this company back from the brink and turn it into the successful company it started as? And can she do this without succumbing to the overwhelming attraction she has to Trey? On the flip side, Trey has feelings toward Kate that he's never had for any other woman in his life, and his way of thinking about the lifestyle he's led for a long time is suddenly starting to dramatically shift. Is this a direction he wants to go with his life?
What I really loved about this book more than anything was the deep friendship that Trey and Kate have. They are each other's best friend, no matter who or what else is going on in their lives, they always turn to each other first whenever anything happens, good or bad.
Watching the slow burn of their relationship as well as the gradual climb in success of the company kept me glued to my Kindle. More than once I was shaking that poor device and yelling at Kate and Trey for some of the decisions they made. But I am happy to report I didn't have to put them both in a timeout until they finally came to their senses, they managed that on their own. And I would like to go on record now and mention that I want all of the lingerie that Kate creates for the company! My husband would be very, very happy!
Another fabulous read from Alessandra!!
The love story of Trey and Kate....NOT your everyday romance! In fact, I wasn’t sure how much of a love story it was going to be since they seemed to be destined to stay apart. Trey needed Kate for his business to be a success. His business was what defined him. Kate needed to succeed in business to help her creative side succeed. Lots of reasons to stay apart. But the chemistry between them just can’t be ignored.
What I love about reading romance is how everyday, normal events can seem so romantic. What’s romantic about eating chinese food? Not everyone is a jet set billionaire and your average person isn’t a perfect looking ten. The author kept the pace flowing, used both points of view and still managed to make it a love story I couldn’t finish fast enough. Both of them are flawed. Both of them have baggage. Both of them are just a little bit stubborn. But when they finally surrender to fate, it just explodes and I so appreciated the build up. The little twist of Trey’s past was not obvious until after you already loved him so it really didn’t matter. Overall, I just loved the story! Kudos to Alessandra and I can’t wait for her next book.
