Book 1, The Hometown Heroes Series

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Fourth-generation cattleman Luke Parker looks into his childless future and wonders what will become of the ranch he’s worked so hard to preserve.

Sarah Magarity’s job with the Department of Children and Family Services has exposed her to the worst side of parenting. So much so that the altruistic redhead doubts she’ll ever have children of her own.

The solution to both their problems might be a five-year-old boy abandoned on DCF’s doorstep just days before Christmas, but only if the cowboy can convince a jaded social worker that he’s good father material on a two-week cattle drive through Florida’s version of the Old West.

LUKE by Leigh Duncan. Hometown Heroes 1
Sarah was a senior caseworker, a five year old boy James Parker has been brought in. She wasn’t going to get involved, vacation time had been scheduled or she would lose it.
Luke quit his job,, to work and save the ranch that had been in family for generations. Along with an ex wife, now he is told, there is a son. He would take him for the holidays to the ranch. Cattle drive, liquor at night, did the foster kids last year lie. Sarah has one condition you can take him if she comes along. They weren’t legally divorce,so even if not his, ex had put name on certificate. A young boy, who lites up with thoughts of a ranch and horses. And for Luke and Sarah, this little boy has won a place in their hearts. Just how far would each go, to having him. A good plot about family, what was important in their lives. Leigh has drawn on our heartstrings with this story, and wanting to see him happy. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
