"Lisa Kessler is an author to remember" - Sherrilyn Kenyon - #1 NYT Best Selling Author
Melanie Jacoby may be the reborn Muse of Tragic Poetry, but she isn’t prepared for the tragedy of finding her roommate dead at the bottom of the stairs.
Nate Malone is the detective assigned to the case, but as the evidence points to an accidental fall, the visions begin. He sees a killer in a gold Kronos mask.
Mel is his next target.
But Nate’s desire to protect Mel is almost as strong as his hunger for her.
And tragedy isn’t part of his plan.
The Prophecy - “Every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.”
A fresh new series that was touching, romantic, and a little bit cute.
When I first read the premise of this series, I knew I wanted to read it. I didn't read a lot of mythology books, but this one sounded interesting, besides the fact that Ms. Kessler wrote it. I liked the idea of Zeus' daughters living on Earth and inspiring people to move forward in the world. I truly appreciated the romance aspect of this book as well. The guardian thing was awesome, especially because he was a cop -- a man in uniform was always hot, right?
I loved the conversations in the book because they were light; not too serious. Melanie had such a way with words that made me giggle at times, even during sexy time ;)
There was also something to be said about Nate's willingness to help Melanie. He felt very protective of her, not to mention the undeniable attraction between them.
Since Melanie was the Muse of Tragic Poetry, it only made sense that she was a teacher who taught poetry. My favorite part was when one of her students read out loud. I might have shed a tear or two after reading that scene. It was so beautiful.
There was also a nice little surprise in the book that I thought the readers would really love. If you were looking for a new, fresh series to lose yourself into, I would highly recommend this one. I, for one, couldn't wait for the next books in the series. I heard there would be many more men in uniform.
Exciting and Fun
I loved this book! Had such a great story line! I grew up loving mythology and getting a series that brings them into the modern day with a twist was fantastic!! Can't wait for the next book!!
Intriguing & Suspenseful!
This is the first book that I have read by Lisa Kessler but it definitely won’t be my last. This is not the genre that I normally read, but I could not put this story down. Riveting Intrigue and sizzling chemistry drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Loved the premise that this series is based on. Nine Greek Muses, the daughter’s of Zeus, who are reborn each generation, and charged with inspiring man kind to move forward in inventions, music and science to change the world. But of course wherever there is good there is also evil looking to destroy it and The Order is set on killing all of the Muses so the Golden Age Of Man would return.
This is Melanie Jacoby and Nate Malone’s story. Melanie or Mel is the Muse of Tragic Poetry who meets Nate Malone, a police detective that arrives on the scene after she finds her roommate dead in their apartment. Her roommate, Nia, was the Muse of Astronomy and Mel knows she was killed, but her death appears to be accidental. So with the help and protection from Nate as he tries to figure out everything that is going on, Mel and Nate soon realize that there is more to their sizzling attraction, that goes far deeper than they could ever imagine. Mel and the other Muses must find out who is trying to kill them before it is to late. Will Nate be able to save Mel? Will the Order give up? You will need to read to find out. Don’t miss this action packed, sizzling hot, intriguing new series. This took me back to my love of Greek mythology.
