Mail Order Prairie Bride

Book 1, Dodge City Brides Series - A Western Historical Romance Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Dodge City Brides: USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean delivers three breathtaking and passionate full-length novels featuring rugged, alpha-male heroes of the West, all sworn to protect the women they love

A loveless marriage of convenience on the Kansas prairie turns out to be far more than she bargained for…

Briggs Brigman has been burned once before, and the last thing he needs is a beautiful wife who will spend hours in front of the mirror, primping herself. He knows how hard the prairie can be on a woman, and all he wants is a stalwart bride who won’t complain about hauling water from the creek….

All Sarah MacFarland wants is to escape her fearful life in Boston and start fresh with a new identity. Answering an advertisement for a mail order bride seems like the perfect solution, until she meets her soon-to-be husband—a ruggedly handsome, strapping farmer who leaves her breathless on their wedding night. But is it possible that two tormented souls can find happiness, when all they know is betrayal, and when trust is the only way out of a tumultuous past that simply won’t stay buried?

Customer Reviews

When Briggs advertised for a mail order bride he had no idea how his life would change. Sarah had a past and was afraid it would catch up to her. She hoped that Briggs would love her. As her past came out they both had to deal with questions about there past as Briggs had secrets to. I loved the story and it kept me glued to it.

Updated Version of First Book

This is a reworked and re-edited version of Julianne MacLean's first book. Prairie Bride. I have read other books from the author and was looking forward to reading this book. While the book is part of the Dodge City Brides series, it is a standalone book and does not end in a cliffhanger.

Briggs is a farmer on the Kansas prairie and is tired of being alone so he places an ad for a wife. Sarah sees the ad and is desperate to escape Boston and finds her way on the train headed west.

He wanted someone plain and she is beautiful. She thought he'd be more refined. He wanted someone to help on the farm and she doesn't know how to milk a cow. She thought they'd live closer to town not in a sod dugout in the middle of nowhere.

They begin to build their life together but Sarah hasn't told Briggs everything. When things get tough, will they be able to love and trust each other or was this marriage doomed from the start?

There are additional books in the original Dodge City Brides series and the author is updating them as well. I look forward to reading more about these couples on the Kansas prairie.
