Make It a Double
Book 2, Last Call Series
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Brody Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.
Alyssa Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy.
Maybe it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.
While Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.
This series has just gotten better, which is in now way a surprise. I've read other series by Sawyer Bennett so why would this one be anything different. I've gotta say the dark and broody guys get me all the time and Brody fit that description to a T. I really enjoyed Alyssa and was pleasantly surprised with the strength of her character! On to the next !
Make it a double
Review: Last Call #2: Make It a Double
Make It a Double by Sawyer Bennett is the second book in her Last Call series. This story focuses on Hunter's twin Brody and his life after prison.
Brody is slowly adjusting to life after prison. He still doesn't like physical contact, does not drink anymore, and is trying to open up to his family. He figures he's already put them through enough as it is.
Alyssa is still wicked ticked at Brody for calling her a rich, prissy, entitled bi*ch. She only offered him a volunteer opportunity at her animal shelter for his community service. It makes no sense.
As the real story behind Brody's incarceration unfolds we learn why his opinion of the upperclass is so harsh. We also learn more about Alyssa's background and we learn with Brody about her past and why she is so down to earth.
A beautiful and VERY dramatic story of second chances, wrong first impressions, trust and faith. I LOVED Brody's story. It will make your heart hurt for what he's been through and I can't wait for more in the Last Call series from Sawyer Bennett.
