Not just back in town, but living in the flat right beneath mine. And he looks good enough to eat, which is just one more reason to stay away from him.
But I can’t resist.
The sex is incredible (pretty sure we’ve shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can’t fool me—not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that “true love” is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn’t exist.
He thinks I’m wrong, and he wants to prove it.
I think he’s crazy, so I dare him to try.
It might be the biggest mistake of my life.
Can a first love last a lifetime?
A Review of Man Candy by Melanie Harlow
Can a first love last a lifetime? - 5+++ stars
Jaime has rules for "dating" - it's NOT done. She likes her sexual escapades to be fast and extremely short term. So, when her high school crush comes back into her life, she panics. The fact that her brother is letting him live in the bottom apartment of the house she lives in throws a wrench into her hope of avoiding him while he is in town.
Quinn is hoping to touch base with the sweet girl that he left behind ten years ago, after laughing at her when she told him she loved him. He is now ready to see where things can go between the two of them. He doesn't get quite the reception he was expecting, though.
Through a comedy of hot, sexy scenes, dates she only agreed to so she could get what she wanted from him and a bet that he can prove love is real, the two of them grow closer together until Jaime gets a scare and pulls the plug on them. Will they be able to overcome the past, for a shot at a future? You really don't want to miss this book! Ms. Harlow has a way with words that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Oh wow, this is definitely one of my favorite books! It's got the perfect blend of romance, humor, and cynicism.
Quinn is an amazing character. I love the way Melanie Harlow can create the perfect man every time she writes a book. Every time I think I got exactly what I want she writes another one that steals a little more of my heart. Quinn was funny, sexy, patient, and loyal. He had me laughing and rooting for him from the beginning.
Jaime was a strong, hilarious, and beautiful character. She reminded me of myself at times and it made me laugh. She had the perfect amount of give and take to her personality. I also loved her friends. They were funny and added so much to the story.
I loved the way the story was written and the telling of it. I didn't have any idea what was going to happen or if it was going to end the way I wanted it to or not. I was hooked from the very beginning and it had me up and finishing in one sitting. I couldn't put it down because I absolutely had to find out how everything would turn out. This was an amazing book that's absolutely loved and would say is a must read.
Believing IN A Forever Love...
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've now been privileged enough to read several of Melanie Harlow's novels. I have to say that if you've never read one, start NOW and start with Man Candy!
Man Candy starts with Jamie being "forced" to live with her life-long crush, the man who broke her heart when she was a Junior in High School. Jamie's brother has rented the bottom part of their rental to Quinn, his childhood best friend. Quinn is not only the guy who broke Jamie's heart, he laughed at her when she told him she loved him and then moved away. He and her parent's dysfunctional marriage is why she doesn't believe in love!
Quinn, after suffering the loss of his mom to cancer, reflects on his life and decides he's not truly happy. He decides to come back "home", go to school, and possibly discover what's been missing in his life. He enrolls in college and takes classes while trying to decide if modeling is really what he wants to do with his life. In walks Jamie...his best friend's little sister and the girl he's never forgotten. The fun times are just beginning.
What I absolutely LOVED about this novel was the witty banter between Quinn and Jamie--the sex scenes were good too! I loved that Quinn picked at Jamie, without "picking" at her. He slowly broke down her walls and disbelief in love, but did it in a way that she didn't see coming. Quinn was never cruel, degrading, or unkind. He did the "little things" like: going for walks while holding hands as long as she wanted, talking about feelings, hugging, staying the night, and calling her different terms of endearment. I LOVED the last line where she turns it around on Quinn and calls him "Love Bug".
This was the best kind of HEA! I highly recommend this novel! I can't wait to read more from Melanie!
