He puts the “screw” in screwball comedy…
At thirty-four, I’m reeling from a divorce. I don’t want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn’s Dips and Balls.
But my friends aren’t having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I’m still taking a hard pass.
Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer.
Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That’s when I lose my mind. But when my besties dare me to leap on the first single man I see, they don't expect me to actually go through with it.
All I need right now is some peace and quiet while my home renovation TV show is on hiatus. But when a curvy woman in a red wrap dress charges me like she’s a gymnast about to mount my high bar, all I can do is brace myself and catch her. What follows is the hottest experience of my adult life.
I want a repeat, but my flying Cinderella disappears immediately afterward. She doesn’t leave a glass slipper, either—just a pair of panties with chocolate bunnies printed on them.
But I will find her.
If you’re seeking a light hearted, fast paced read...then look no further.
I’ve been a long time fan of Sarina Bowen and this time around I am pleasantly surprised with her pairing up with author/narrator Tanya Eby. If I had to chance, I’d say that Tanya is responsible for the majority of the comedy present in Man Hands.
The chapters are quite short. Some are not more than a page. Personally, I prefer short chapters ; if for no other reason than it provides a break in the story line as well as a pausing point should you have a distraction or a need to take a break for another reason.
Those people familiar with fan fiction may recognize the term drabble - which I would use to describe the writing style presented in this book. As mentioned, short and precise chapters. Quick to convey the point to the chapter. Multiple point of view as well.
An easy and entertaining read. This duo works well together.
Hands Down, Man Hands is a Five Star!!!!
Holy Toledo! This was the MOST hilarious book I’ve ever read. I can’t count the many times I literally had to stop reading because I was thrown into a coughing spree. Then there were the times I crossed my legs, and took bathroom breaks because well I’m old now, and this sort of laughter causes me to trickle my pants. Lol
I was eighteen pages in and had to catch my breath and refocus. ‘Come on girl, I’d say to myself, ‘wipe the tears I want to know what happens.’
I thought I’d get reprieve, but NO! This story with its girl down on her luck, and she’s newly divorced from a loser man who is just not worthy of her because he’d rather dream about lambs jumping to and fro in the air above his bed in an imaginary cloud opposed to realizing he has a wonderful wife just knocked my reader socks off. (He didn’t really count sheep, but he was that lame)
Brynn has banging friends, I mean funny as all get out, and loyal as can be. If only I had friends like her.
Acting on a direct order by one of her faithful friends after running into her ex, Brynn finds herself anatomically connected to Tom, literally. This you have to read. Just, I can’t even spoil this for anyone, you have to read this part.
What unfurled from this point was none other than a romcom of the century. Get your bowl of popcorn. If your prone to episodes, have inhaler on hand. You will need it. I mean you’ll laugh until you cry, cough, and well we discussed that earlier. Lol.
Tom and Brynn are the couple of the year. It didn’t hurt that he was the sexy as heck guy who ... I can’t give it away, but you women who like tool belts, paint samples, hard muscles, demolition, hands that have those veins stick up as they push the wood through the table saws, ... am I dragging this on?
The ending was epic, just freaking epic!
Hands down, Man Hands was five stars!!
Honey bunches of cuteness!!
What a lovely, quick read! So fun to see Brynn and Tom bumble their way into a relationship :). My only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough - I feel like some of Tom’s backstory was brushed over. But still a great start to a new series!!
