I waited until I was able to get into the book a bit before writing something here. I wanted to take some time to explore and work on some of the concepts introduced in the book. I wanted to be fair….I'm glad I waited and spent the time. It's a great read from the start, thanks to Don's light and fun style, but it's even better if you give it time, play along and work with it. Don Julin has a great way of bringing the intricacies of learning the mandolin to a place where we all can "get" it. I've been trying to teach myself how to play and have had several moments while working with this book where I literally say to myself, "Oh, NOW I get it!." Seriously.
If you're looking to learn the mandolin or if you're looking to improve your skills, I highly recommend getting this. I wish I had it when I started, But I am thrilled to have it now!
No audio content
The book is good but it won't let me download any of the audio content to go with it so its hard to follow. Would be a really good book if the make the audio available.
