This story is about Fanny Price who is born to a poor family, but is sent to her mother's rich relations to be brought up with her cousins. There she is treated as an inferior by all except her cousin Edmund, whose kindness towards her earns him her steadfast love.
A true Jane Austen novel
Although a long read, the style and prose of this, yet another, Jane Austen classic, is well worth the time. The characters are wonderful, the story is meaningful. I found myself laughing and crying, shaking my head and feeling my heart swell. This book is an investment, but it truly makes you rethink human character and the power of family. I'm glad I read it.
“Not like the movie”
I should’ve read the book before watching the movie but if I’m being honest the movie was better. Still a really sweet and tender book worth reading!
A challenge to my patience
After reading some of the review, I understood that the book will not capture my attention until I am halfway through. So I read on. Half of the book it was until I found the book slightly interesting! The content, events, flow of the book are just too slow for the impatience mind of a 25 years old. The ending barely made my time reading the book worthwhile. My recommendation? Don't expect the book to be an equal to Price and Prejudice and be patient while reading.
