Clara Stephens has made it through two months of her pact with her best friend Amy to experience life as much as possible. March begins with no new prospects until she agrees to have coffee with a Library volunteer. After meeting him for dinner she accompanies him back to his place where she learns that he is funny and charismatic, even though he is old enough to be her grandfather. Clara decides to take a chance and experiment with her much older new acquaintance, Richard. She is delighted to find out that having a friendship with benefits isn't necessarily a bad thing.
