The Mortal Instruments meets Supernatural.
Sixteen-year-old Kara Nightingale is unpopular, awkward and positively ordinary—that is until one day she is struck by a bus and dies...
Within moments her life changes from ordinary to extraordinary as she wakes up in a mysterious world with a new career—as a rookie for the Guardian Angel Legion. Kara is pulled into the supernatural where monkeys drive the elevators, oracles scurry above giant crystal balls and where demons feed on the souls of mortals. When an Elemental child is kidnapped, Kara is sent on a danger-filled quest and plunges into a situation more dangerous and deadly than anything she could ever imagine.
Don't miss this thrilling, action-packed fantasy adventure and first of the Soul Guardians series.

Marked, Kim Richardson
The storyline of Marked was not overall bad. It was a pretty typical protagonist somehow gets to another world, gets aquainted with their customs, ends up saving everyone there, then goes home novel.
They were absolutely atrocious. There were capitals where there shouldn't be, exclamation points and question marks mixed up, commas where they don't belong and none where they do. The punctuation was so bad I could hardly even read the book. If you are a sucker for good punctuation, don't get this book.
The writing style was fine for me. There isn't anything super special about Richardson's writing, nothing that really caught me. In some places, though, the inserted imagery seems a little forced.
Kara isn't a good character. She does whatever the voice in her head tells her to do, and even though that ends up helping her, it tells me she is weak. Also, one thing that bugs me, does she really have to insert 'freaking' into every sentence just to make her point?
David is a better character than Kara. Although he was a bit too quick to believe Kara is a traitor, just by seeing her mark once.
That averages to a 2.25 star book, rounding to two stars. Not exactly good overall.
I adore this book! It's great, and I can't believe I didn't read it sooner. I hope you write many more books. :)
