A steamy, gripping standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author Chelle Bliss.
Before senior year, I was forced to move away, leaving behind the only man I ever loved. He promised he’d love me forever. He vowed nothing would tear us apart. He swore he’d wait for me, but Jack lied.
Six years later, when our paths cross again, his broad shoulders, rock-hard chest, and rippling muscles almost make me forget his betrayal. His rugged voice, tempting lips, and sinful smile make it harder for me to deny the feelings I still have for him.
Now, Jack wants to make me his again, but our past may be too much for us to overcome.
They say time heals all wounds, but the years haven’t diminished my heartache. The only thing that dulls the pain is Jack’s lips caressing my skin as he whispers, “It’s always been you.”
This was such a great book about second chances and following your heart and not denying your one true love. Sometimes life (or people) throw many curveballs in your way, and how you come out on top says a lot about who you are. Jack and Evie were torn apart, by moves, people and lies. To read how they end up fighting back was truly great. I loved this book. And be prepared for tears and make sure you read the forward. Love this book! Love you Chelle
A Second Chance At Forever
What I love most about second chance romances is the fact that the hero and heroine have history together, which means that their feelings for one another are ones that have always been there and even though they may have laid dormant due to time and distance, it’s completely feasible for those once felt emotions to quickly reignite, leading the hero and heroine back to each other and willing them to remember what they once had and fight like hell to get it back.
As childhood friends, Evie Harper and Jack Nelson formed the kind of bond that’s meant to last, but circumstances took them away from one another six years ago and now the pain and devastation of broken promises and shattered dreams make it a difficult journey back to what they once had now that Evie has returned to town.
There’s always two sides to every story, and somewhere in the middle is where the truth lies, and it definitely seems like that’s the case for Evie and Jack. Their entangled past was like a lifeline for them while they were apart and even though there’s issues to be dealt with and truths to be told, it’s clear that what Evie and Jack once shared is still between them and as long as Evie willingly sheds light on the secrets she’s been holding and Jack can accept them and move forward, still wanting Evie by his side, no one can stop them from rebuilding their relationship.
Mend is a straight forward second chance romance - one that illustrates just how meaningful and powerful a first love is. There’s not much standing in Evie and Jack’s way once they work through their past mistakes and while, at times, it did seem a bit too easy for them to, in a way, pick up right where they left off, I can’t really judge them for that because their backstory and perspectives prove just how much they adore one another.
Chelle Bliss definitely stepped out of the box for Evie and Jack’s story, and I know that she was afraid that she would lose readers based on the content of Mend and its characters, but any author who is willing to challenge herself in her writing and still writes a story with heart and passion, that’s a writer I will surely follow regardless of a change in trope or character personalities.
