“Thrilling post-apocalyptic romance at its dark, sizzling best!”—Lara Adrian

"Nothing is easy or black or white in Zanetti's grim new reality, but hope is key, and I hope she writes faster!” —New York Times bestselling author Larissa Ione
With nothing but rumors to lead her, Lynne Harmony has trekked across a nightmare landscape to find one man—a mysterious, damaged legend who protects the weak and leads the strong. He’s more than muscle and firepower—and in post-plague L.A., he’s her only hope. As the one woman who could cure the disease, Lynne is the single most volatile—and vulnerable—creature in this new and ruthless world. But face to face with Jax Mercury…
Danger has never looked quite so delicious…

From Publishers Weekly

Dec 21, 2015 – In this heavy-handed introduction to a sexy, postapocalyptic romance series from Zanetti (the Realm Enforcer series), a disease called Scorpius has ravaged the U.S., killing many and leaving others insane. Lynne Harmony, former head of the CDC's Infectious Disease section, thinks she can find a cure for Scorpius, but someone is hunting her. She shows up at Jax Mercury's Los Angeles area compound and asks him to kill the stalker. What neither Jax nor Lynne counts on is an instant, raging attraction that can't be ignored. The story of a violent alpha male falling for an independent woman (and occasionally abusing her to demonstrate his dominance) in a dire situation is a romance genre classic, but it's tossed willy-nilly into the postapocalyptic setting, and both the romance and the SF come out muddled.

Awesome new series!

This is such a great start to a new series. I read the "Scorpius Rising" 0.5 prequel to this series in "On the Hunt" anthology and loved it, Nora and Deacon's story.
Jax Mercury and Lynne Harmony are two strong willed and intelligent characters both with an agenda. Jax is the leader of the Vanguarde society trying to stay alive in the aftermath of the Scorpius bacteria that killed 90% of the human race. Lynne is the well known survivor known as The Blue Heart Girl and said to be a carrier of an even more deadly form of the bacteria. Escaping from the government Lynne needs to find Jax before they find her and get him to help her if she lives that long.
This book is full of nail biting suspense, heartache and sadness and hope that there's a end to the madness and the triumph of love in a world of despair.
I can not wait to read the next book "Shadow Falling" Raze and Vivienne's book.

Mercury Striking Loved loved loved it.

I enjoyed this book so much. I did think I was going to like it boy was I wrong. Jax Mercury hot sexy and more hot. I love a sexy alpha male who has brains brawn and a romantic side. Lynne what can I say I really enjoyed reading her character it's refreshing to have a female character that shows intelligence and doesn't have to seem like she is a little ditsy at some point in the story. I can't wait for the next installment . With Vivian and Raze. Yes.
