From New York Times and USAToday Bestselling romance author Jean Brashear

Days away from release from Attica after serving twenty years to guard a secret, Lucas Walker discovers that he’s news again.
The story once shocked the world: the son of renowned Shakespearean actor martin Gerard, murdered while defending his twin sister Tansy from assault by Lucas Walker, the juvenile delinquent once taken under the wing of Gerard’s wife Juliette.
Gerard’s triumphant return to the stage after a ten-year absence brings the old case to light. When Tansy is kidnapped, Lucas can’t leave New York as he’d planned, no matter how badly he wants to—not until he lives up to a promise to her dying mother to protect her. Lucas goes after her, risking imprisonment once more to face the person responsible for the night that forever altered all their lives.

Mercy for all

The beginning of the story dragged almost to the point of boredom but revealed a logical path towards understanding even if you couldn't imagine the “who done it”. To summarize the story would just give away too many clues so bear with it and it will not disappoint.

What a web weaved in relationships as each character faced despair through loss but found strength within the family. The girls felt connected to each other, their spouses, friends and somehow their father, but the realities of the past still haunts them.
The author utilizes extreme vocabulary/synonyms to emphasize the characters existence in the present and past and although complex in nature, each one is revealed. Luckily each character redeemed and experiences the expected HEA.

A romantic suspense must read

This was an emotional read for me at times, but it was so worth reading. I absolutely love Lucas and the sacrifice he made for the woman he loves. This book is not just about Tansy and Lucas though. We also learn about Mona and Kat and their lives. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a romance that's unlike any other you've read!

I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Did not know what to expect from this story. It is different from Jean's other books. This is more raw. At first it seems this is a story about Lucas and why he was in jail, but it is so much more. This is a story about a family, dysfunctional it may be. If I say any more I will give everything away. Mercy is a must read.
