Midnight Ride

Book 1, Midnight Cowboys

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

One bucking bronco. . .

Oklahoma ranch hand Tyler Jenkins is too young, too sexy, and too damn wild to be tied down by any single woman--for more than a few steamy hours. . .

One hard-working widow. . .

Widowed rancher Janie Smithwick is too busy paying off her debts to play rodeo with a reckless young cowboy like Tyler--no matter how hot he gets her. . .

One midnight ride they'll never forget. . .

As a rule, Janie should be dating a man her own age, like her handsome neighbor Rohn--not the twenty-four-year old ranch hand he employs. But once Tyler gets Janie alone--held tight in his arms, pressed against his hard muscled body, burning with desire--the widow realizes that some rules, like broncos, are meant to be broken. . .

From Publishers Weekly

Mar 09, 2015 – The latest cowboy contemporary from Johnson (Thrown), which launches a series set in Oklahoma, packs a powerful emotional punch. Lonely 36-year-old widow Janie Smithwick is struggling to keep her family's ranch afloat. Tyler Jenkins is a 24-year-old hired hand on the neighboring ranch who's cutting a swath through the young ladies in town while competing in local rodeos. When Tyler meets Jamie, he's immediately smitten, and their chemistry is off the charts, but Janie thinks their age difference will eventually tear them apart and tries to hold the handsome fellow at arm's length. Can Tyler convince her that he's in it for the long haul? Janie's plucky, can-do attitude and vulnerability are appealing, as is Tyler's unexpected depth. With an entertaining cast of secondary characters, this tale will take readers for an enjoyable ride.

I always enjoy Cat Johnson's work. She writes some seriously sexy cowboys and I never miss a chance to read her books so of course I jumped at the chance to read Midnight Ride. The first meeting between Janie and Tyler was pretty amusing. Tyler is young and seems like he's been enjoying the ladies. He didn't really come across as a that big of a playboy to me, but apparently Janie has him pegged as one so she's decided that she shouldn't mess around with him. Couple that with his age and she puts him firmly in the no category. The book moved a little slow for me. It took literally half the book for them to finally move forward toward a relationship and then she refused to go out in public with him. It made me like her a little less. I understand worrying about the age difference, but it felt like many times she didn't care at all about how she was making him feel. Eventually things do work themselves out and we get a happy ending. All in all I still enjoyed the story. The sex between these two is pretty spectacular too. The definitely heat up the sheets.
