This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
What's in the box? Three previously-published novellas set at Christmas, a description of Christmas in the Regency period, and some seasonal recipes, new and old. The novellas are, A Gift of Light, first published in 1996 in The Christmas Cat; The Christmas Wedding Gambit, which has been freely available on my web site for years, and Star of Wonder, set in 999 AD. This was published in 1999 as Day of Wrath in Star of Wonder. The box also includes an essay about Christmas traditions in the real Regency, some seasonal recipes, and information about my other Christmas stories.
Missing her already
I'm writing this within a week of Jo Beverley's passing.
I had never read any of these stories before, but found them fun. I even learned a new Old English word: watchcorn, which is seen these days in a family name. It's another word for watchtower.
It was lovely to have something of hers new to me to read at this time. Some of her primary characters have more depth or description than others, but they are all real people instead of tropes. While she is no slouch at plotting, I think most of her fans read her work for the characters, and are always satisfied.
