I’m the popular girl at school.
The one everyone wants to be friends with.
I have the best boyfriend in the world, who’s on the basketball team.
My parents adore me, and I absolutely love them. My sister and I have a great relationship too.
I’m a cheerleader, I have a high GPA and I’m liked even by the teachers.
It was a night which promised to be filled with love and fun until…something happened which changed everything.

I just... I don't know what I can say about this book that would do it justice. Even the work "book" just doesn't do it for me... not to sound cliché or anything, but this is more of a masterpiece than a book! Margaret has such a way of writing that you will get sucked into the story and it is very hard to get out of. If the character (Dakota) is happy then you will be happy but if Dakota is sad and depressed the you will be down in the dumps trying to claw your way out. You WILL have a book hangover after reading this and if you don't... then you have a blacker soul than mine! ;-) This book will leave you guessing and on the edge of your seat wondering who the villain is and how they could do such horrible acts. But this is not just a sad story; this story has power, redemption, peace, love and hope. It is one of the stories that I will remember for a good long while and it will have a lasting impression on my soul!

Idk, it's an average novel. A lot of people love it but to me it's just mediocre. The conversations aren't very realistic, they're things people wouldn't normally say. It was pretty difficult to read without rolling my eyes, actually.

Mistrust is a darker YA standalone novel that could have some triggers for some. Just wanted to put that out there. I don't usually read YA but its Margaret so I knew I had to grab it. The only other book I have read by her was Ugly, and that turned me into a fan of hers. She has a way of pulling me in.

Dakota is a popular sixteen year old that has it all. A great family, a high GPA, a few besties, and she is the girlfriend to the hottest and most popular boy in her Junior class. And now...she was about to have a magical night. It's Prom night!! It is also the night that changes her. She wakes up the next day feeling confused, ashamed, embarrassed. And most of all...broken. Something happened that night. She tries to put the pieces together but she can't remember anything after dancing with her friends. But, what she does know is that something was taken from her. But by who?

Dakota tries to act completely normal come Monday but she doesn't feel like herself and a few notice. But, one of them doesn't care. And that is when things go from horrific to hell. Her only saving grace is that summer vacation is coming up. She can forget all about Prom night and try to move on. All she needs is her family, friends, and s'mores. She even knows deep down that won't make her forget what she can't really even remember. It's fuzzy but she has nightmares, and clues. She just can't put the pieces together. To her it's like an unfinished puzzle that will always have a few missing pieces...

I thought this was a story that needed to be told. I know it's fiction but this kind of tragedy happens daily. It's important to know that it could happen to anyone. Anywhere. Ok. Back to the story. The characters are amazing. Dakota is stronger than she thinks she is. Her life changes that night. She finds out who her real friends are. She also goes through her own self-discovery. She feels broken but she has the best support from her best friend which is also her sister Sam. She is there every step of the way, and makes her even laugh. I love her! And, she also finds a new bestie and become even better friends with someone she didn't expect to have her back. Maybe even more...

Overall...this is a dark YA that is raw, emotional, and beautiful. It's about family, friends, love, forgiveness, and trying to move on.

My soul is bleeding. It’s oozing blood, while I slowly drift toward a place I don’t want to be.

“Hurry up, Queen Elsa, I’ve got somewhere I have to be. Let me get you back to your ice castle.”

“You can’t live your life frightened of what might happen.”
