Money for Something
A Handy Field Guide for Turning Small Investments into Financial Freedom
This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
Watching my parents spend much of their lives working to pay the bills, I often wondered whether the choice of how I spend my time would forever be tied to the need to earn money.
In my early 20s, I began to study investing and discovered that the most powerful and reliable techniques are simple and available to everyone. I put the principles I learned into practice, and over the next 15 years confirmed that they work. By age 35, I was able to finance the start of my own business, doing the work I love.
My new book Money for Something is for people who’ve not been exposed to the fundamentals of investing, and teaches the essentials in a concise, easy-to-read guide. In less than an hour, and for the cost of a movie ticket, you can learn the principles that have helped me, and many others, achieve financial freedom.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
* About the powerful force that can grow small savings into large amounts of money.
* How to understand and clarify your own goals for financial freedom.
* How to create an investment plan that can get you there.
* Academically-proven secrets that the financial industry would prefer you never learn.
* Techniques for lowering risk while increasing your rate of return.
* A step-by-step process to implement your plan, wherever you live.
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
Brilliant clear-headed quick explanation of everything a non-investor needs to know. Don’t delay in getting this book, and doing what it says. It will only take you an hour to read, and an hour to put into action. Then you’ll be making passive investments, instead of saying ‘someday...’

Investing isn’t rocket science, despite what the alchemists of the financial industry would like you to believe. Matt shows you in simple steps how to build a no-frills portfolio using basic concepts anyone can understand. It’s not going to make you a millionaire overnight—but almost nothing that’s legal will! Instead, you’ll learn how to side-step the fees, stop acting like a day trader, and reap the power of compound interest. Get to it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
I grew up in Duluth, Georgia, and studied electrical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. With an interest in Europe—and a Spanish girlfriend—I did my graduate work at Georgia Tech’s campus in Metz, France.
I started my career at the European Space Agency in Germany, and in 1997 founded an engineering company there called Makalu Aerospace. In 2000, I started a second company called Makalu Interactive that has designed products for brands like Google, Virgin America, and Catalog Choice.
Today I live on the southern coast of Spain, enjoying the warm climate, friendly people and amazing diversity of the Andalucia region.
Starting my own companies was possible due to the investment principles I had learned over two decades ago. Those same principles are available to anyone, and are what I teach in this new book.
I hope you enjoy Money for Something.
