Murder in Grosvenor Square (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries, #9)

Book 9, Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

Captain Gabriel Lacey begins Spring 1818 preparing for a duel. But while he focuses on the affair of honor, darkness, greed, and death stalk the streets of London and bring tragedy to a family Lacey has grown close to.

With the aid of Lucius Grenville, London's most famous dandy, and Brewster, a ruffian employed by an underworld criminal, Lacey's investigation takes him from the elegant mansions of Grosvenor Square to the squalid lanes of Seven Dials, to houses that practice a highly illegal trade, spelling ruin and possible hanging for those caught within.

Lacey once again comes into the sphere of James Denis, the crime lord, when what appears to be a simple crime of hatred turns out to be far more complex.

Book 9 of the Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries. This is a full-length novel.

Customer Reviews

Dickensian, but with hope

I stumbled upon the first Captain Lacey book because it was free. I honestly expected it to be a glorified romance novel with a murder. I was so taken in by the depths of the characters, the detail (both historically and in the flowing narrative), that I willingly purchased the second. By then, I was hooked. I love the way each novel twists and turns. I love how each character, major or minor, seems to be fleshed out completely, and apart from minor grammatical/editing problems, I found no jarring mistakes in character or logic (something worthy of J.K. Rowlings). I am now a devoted fan, and dread having to wait until 2015 for my next Captain Lacey fix (also a source of contention I had with Ms. Rowlings). Please, hurry with the next one(s)!
