My First - Jason & Katie
Book 1, The Crossroads Series
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Jason Sloan is known as Harper’s Crossing’s resident Romeo, and he’s never had to work too hard to live up to that nickname. With his easygoing charm, whiskey-colored brown eyes, and sinfully sexy half smile, women just seem to fall all over themselves when he’s around.
Well...most women, anyway. Katie Lawson’s the one woman who isn't putty in his hands, and she's the only one he’s ever wanted in his arms.
Katie Lawson left Harper's Crossing in the middle of the night ten years ago, immediately after her high school boyfriend Nick's funeral. She left behind all memories of Nick, and she left behind her life-long best friend, Jason Sloan.
Now she's on the fast track to junior partner at one of San Francisco's top law firms. She's made a life for herself that's all about maintaining order and sticking to the rules. Rule #1 is keeping herself WAY too busy to think about all that she ran away from. If she can do that, after all, she can keep everything under control.
But that rule is about to be broken. She’s headed back home to be the maid of honor in Nick’s little sister’s wedding. It's time to face the truth she's been avoiding all these years, the same one that sent her running ten years ago - that maybe she didn't lose her first love the summer after high school. Maybe her first love has been waiting for her all this time, at home in Harper's Crossing.
**Author's note: Each book in The Crossroads Series can be read as a stand-alone**
This is the first free book I have read in quite awhile that has enticed me to pay for subsequent books in series. This was a breath of fresh air after reading some other free novels that were so horribly in need of an editor or trying to compete with 50 Shades of Grey for the exact same plot and break the record for the most S&M or BdSM. The characters were relatable. The plot wasn't far-fetched but it was entertaining. It had great chemistry, comedy, mystery and just the right mix of hot passion without being raunchy.
Too much inner dialogue and cliches
Cute story that had potential but I couldn't get past the inner dialogue that just never stopped. Everything had to be explained, nothing left for the reader to infer with some well written sentenced. I skipped big sections and lost nothing of the story. Also the dialogue, both inner and conversational, was cheesy. Juvenile is the best word that I could use for it. Cliche after cliche was used. I'm not sure if the author was trying to replicate small Midwestern towns or if the word choices were meant to be cute. If the first, it was insulting. Either way I found it annoying.
First able, this book is totally FREE! 👌 and the best part is that it's a good and interesting book. I love how the author describes everything. I also love the romance in this book, so much passion😍. Lol! Read it!!!!
