“A delightful annual tradition.”
RT Book Reviews
Sometimes the best surprises are right at home . . .
Returning to Branding Iron, Texas, is Travis Morgan’s last resort, and the abandoned ranch he inherited isn’t much more welcoming than the prison cell where he spent the last three years doing time for a tragic accident. Completely without funds or family, Travis finds celebrating Christmas is the last thing on his mind, but there’s no escaping the holiday spirit in this close-knit little town—not with Branding Iron’s longtime Santa retiring, and sweetly stubborn Mayor Maggie Delaney determined to find a replacement. When her no-nonsense façade slips to reveal the sensual, vulnerable woman beneath it, Travis realizes Maggie just might be as lonely as he is—and that this holiday season, love could be the gift that heals them both.

“The spirit of Christmas permeates this charming holiday romance.”
RT Book Reviews on Merry Christmas, Cowboy

From Publishers Weekly

Sep 03, 2018 – There is nothing romantic about this gloomy holiday tale. When former cop Travis Morgan returns to Branding Iron, Tex., after serving three years in prison, the only thing he expects to get is solitude on his run-down family ranch. Mayor Maggie Delaney finds out the town's Santa is retiring and sets out on a mission to replace him with only six weeks left before Christmas. She thinks Travis's father, Hank, will be the perfect replacement, but Hank refuses to take the job unless Travis forgives him for a mistake from long ago. Prison has made Travis bitter, so when Maggie tries to get the two men to reconcile, all of her efforts are met with resistance. It's obvious that Travis and Maggie are physically attracted to each other, but with no real conversations or time spent together, readers will wonder how they fall in love. The relationship is as nonexistent as the holiday cheer, and the character development is just as bland as the love story.

Travis swearing of having a farm when one has to climb the platform to free the ice off a windmilll.. His future was here after being with highway patrol and a mishap ended with him now as an ex con, and no work. Maggie spun out in her car, hitting a post, distracting him, falling to the ground.
Neighbor, was moving, he now winds up with a couple of horses and a dog. With an added surprise of a beautiful sleigh., which had been in the parade for over twenty years. He had been playing Santa, and his two horses as reindeer. Travis now has the awful feeling he might be roped into filling the man’s spot as Santa. Finding the dog, had trapped a skunk, this was turning out to be one of the worst decisions he had made. Maggie as mayor knew how to manage people and Travis, was now first. A case of tomato juice was delivered to bath the dog in.. This was a delightful story, of two older people, attracted to one another, and how, with their busy schedules, finding time for love, Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
