“Beverly Jenkins has reached romance superstardom .”
—Detroit Free Press

“Jenkins’s sassy heroines, well drawn secondary characters and seamless incorporation of black history result in a fresh, winning historical.”
—Publishers Weekly

The premier name in African-American historical romance fiction, the incomparable Beverly Jenkins returns to the American West with Night Hawk—a blistering tale of high-stakes romance that unites a hard-as-nails bounty hunter with a gorgeous spitfire whom he rescues from a vigilante mob. Set in 1884 Wyoming, Night Hunter by multiple Emma Award winner Jenkins offers a breathtaking combination of passion and adventure that will surely increase her already substantial legion of dedicated fans.

From Publishers Weekly

Sep 26, 2011 – Jenkins, famous for historical romances featuring black characters (Captured; Belle), stumbles with this tale set in the turbulent American South of 1889. When Ian Vance, a bounty hunter turned U.S. deputy marshal, sees Maggie Freeman on a Kansas train platform, he’s struck by her defiant manner. Maggie defended herself against sexual assault and is on her way to stand trial in Kansas City, but no Southern judge would allow a black woman who killed a white man to walk free. Ian falls in love with her fighting spirit and sense of humor, and Maggie is intrigued by his law degree, Scottish and African heritage, and years as an outlaw. As Ian and Maggie dodge the law and travel to his Wyoming ranch, she piles on heavy-handed, disruptive lessons in African-American history. The romance either rushes or drags, and while the protagonists are quirky and engaging, the delightful side characters repeatedly steal the show.

Beverly Jenkins fan

Just received yesterday and already finished reading. Loved the historical story as usual, good stuff! I have all her books dating back to Vivid and my all time favorite, Indigo. Loved seeing the July's show up here like in the most recent release of Bring on the Blessings.

Classic Beverley Jenkins is back!

This is one of BJ's strongest shows in a long time. Welcome back!M!

Night Hawk - Excellent.

Night Hawk was a very engaging and enjoyable novel, true to Beverly Jenkins style. I especially enjoy her historical romances, both for the passion and knowledge gained of our culture as well as that of other ethnicities. It is so easy for me to lose myself in Ms. Jenkins' novels and relish in the experience. Eagerly awaiting the release of her next exciting novel!!! I know I will enjoy reading it as much as the tale chronicling the life experience of Maggie and Ian.
