"Coraline meets Monsters, Inc. in this delightfully entertaining offering from actor [Jason] Segel and co-author [Kirsten] Miller."—Publishers Weekly
The hilariously frightening, middle-grade novel Nightmares! is a Texas Bluebonnet nominee and the first book in a trilogy about a boy named Charlie and a group of kids who must face their fears to save their town.
Sleeping has never been so scary. And now waking up is even worse!
Charlie Laird has several problems.
1. His dad married a woman he is sure moonlights as a witch.
2. He had to move into her purple mansion, which is NOT a place you want to find yourself after dark.
3.He can’t remember the last time sleeping wasn’t a nightmarish prospect. Like even a nap.
What Charlie doesn’t know is that his problems are about to get a whole lot more real. Nightmares can ruin a good night’s sleep, but when they start slipping out of your dreams and into the waking world—that’s a line that should never be crossed.
And when your worst nightmares start to come true . . . well, that’s something only Charlie can face. And he’s going to need all the help he can get, or it might just be lights-out for Charlie Laird. For good.
Praise for Nightmares!

Memories of my own dreams and nightmares as a child came flooding in. It is very nostalgic to take yourself back to those moments in time
Saw Jason Segel on the Colbert report talking about this book and decided to check it out. VERY good book, couldn't put it down!
Don't underestimate Jason Segel
My husband and I are big fans of Jason Segel's film work (ages 25 and 26), so when I heard about this book and the inspiration behind it (Segel's own nightmares as a kid), then I knew I had to read, well, listen to this out of curiosity. Loved the story and the camaraderie between all of the friends, and the nostalgia I felt while listening. Creative story, and reminded me of the old school stories/movies like Goonies, ET, James and the Giant Peach, etc. This book (first of a trilogy) is great for kids and kids at heart, and is a really good balance between scary, and not scarring a child for life. If you're a parent and are curious how your child may react to some of those other trilogies, this would be a good "training" tool to see if they are ready for some of the more mature trilogies out there. All in all, I thought it was well rounded, and entertaining. Excited to see what's next. Way to go, Mr. Segel, way to go. 👍👍
