What would you do if the love of your life had no memory of you? A man tries to win back the love of his life after an accident has her in a coma in this emotional, romantic drama from #1 ebook phenomenon J. L. Perry writing as Jodi Perry
The 19th of January, 1996 ... I'll never forget it. It was the day we met. I was seven and she was six. It was the day she moved in next door, and the same day I developed my first crush on a girl.
Then tragedy struck. Nineteen days after our wedding day, she was in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her coma, she had no memory of me, of us, of the love we shared.
That's when I started writing her letters. The stories of our life. Of when we met. About the happier times, and everything we'd experienced together.
What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten.

This book had everything!
What would you do if you forgot everything in your life? Even your beloved? How would you continue through life?
Those are the questions that Jemma and Braxton have to find a way to answer.
This was the first book from Ms. Perry that I read; with that being said, I absolutely loved this book. The reader could feel the emotion that the author put into the story. I was devastated for Jemma and heartbroken for Braxton. Such a wonderful story to read.
I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Perry.
A book that you won't forget ❤️
If you haven’t read a J.L Perry book, go get one now. I’ve been obsessed with this author since I read “Bastard” and I’ve scooped up every one of her books since. I didn’t think anyone could steal my heart like Carter and Indiana, but I was so very wrong. Braxton and Jemma just came in and totally swept it right out from under from me. From the very first chapter of this book to the last, I couldn’t stop smiling.
I could very easily tell you that Braxton will be your very new book boyfriend, and he will, but that’s not what totally captured my heart. It was Jemma, which is different for me in a romance and I’m not even a lesbian! Honestly though, it’s very important for me to like the female protagonist in any book I read. Without giving spoilers, this book is about a woman named Jemma waking from a coma and losing her memory, along with not remembering her husband or the one-of-a-kind love they shared. They met as kids, and grew up together. Were best friends, shared every one of life’s firsts with. This is not “The Notebook” or “The Vow.” This book is so much more and Jodi has written something that not only lets you experience their love, but allows you to know all the reasons why Braxton is completely in love with Jemma.
The letters! OMG, the letters, they are so amazing. We get to follow along in their lives’ journey through Braxton’s letters to Jemma. Jemma is one of the best female characters I’ve read. She is spunky, forward, hilarious, and loving. You see her through the eyes of Braxton, and it is everything you’d ever want a man to notice about you. The way Jodi captures Braxton’s feelings and love for Jemma is swoon worthy.
I didn’t quit smiling as I read this book, and I also felt his pain and struggle to cope with his loss. I shed a few tears also but I so badly wanted Jemma to remember him. Every time Jemma received a letter, I got excited right along with her. Jemma as a child and teen was fierce, she wasn’t afraid to tell you how it was or fight for what she wanted. She was stubborn and headstrong, and Braxton loved every second of it. He baited her and shed give it back just as good, it was so funny. The goats, torches, the Loch Ness monster, all had me laughing. So many awkward moments every teen has, was written so romantically perfect from Braxton. I so wished I had a Braxton growing up. They were the best team.
Not only do we get their past, but so many supporting characters and their stories. Ma and Pa were the best. This book is everything love should be. Never fading, always true and pure. I loved every word in this book!
What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten
This is absolutely the best book I have ever read. I knew I would love this book from the blurb alone but I had no idea how much this book would touch me, move me, and just fill me with so much warmth.
The love between Braxton and Jemma was such a slow burning love that started when he was 7 and she was 6. We get to see the story of their budding relationship through Braxton's eyes as he writes these letters to Jemma. She lost her memories from a car accident and this was Braxton's way of telling her the story of them for the past 19 years.
My heart went out to Braxton for not only having to deal with the fact that his wife has lost her memory but his father is battling Alzheimer's, he feels truly alone so many times and that just broke my heart. I felt bad for Jemma as well because she could see that her not remembering Braxton and their life together was hard on him.
This is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read. I was hooked from the first page until the very end. Even then, I didn't want it to be over. Every time Braxton ended his letters to Jemma with "What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten", I got chills. This is definitely one book that I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. I will absolutely be recommending this book to anyone that will listen.
