TRUST NO ONE
This vow has kept P.I. Sadie Lane safe ever since she saw her parents murdered and then entered Witness Protection. But when she gets a lead on the long-ago killer she can't forget, Sadie joins forces with a dashing FBI agent leading his own investigation into the crime boss. Kip Moore makes her yearn to trust, but protocol demands Sadie keep her true identity hidden. Secrecy is all that has kept her alive. As they venture deep undercover into her target's syndicate, Sadie finds herself in over her head. Kip is her only hope as she comes face-to-face with a killer from her past. A deadly past that now threatens her future and Kip's.
Rachel Dylan’s “Out of Hiding” is a
very suspenseful mystery that starts with the search for a missing teen, which sends our heroine, Private Investigator Sadie, into a determined search for her. Sadie must team up with an FBI agent, in spite of her previous painful experiences with the FBI. I especially appreciated how Dylan tied in poignant issues such as human trafficking and a veratn’s guilt over how our military abandoned Iraqui villagers in danger, circa 2014. In addition, she touches on how the insecurity of our Southern border greatly endangers vulnerable, innocent people. Stories like this humanize the situations for her readers. Dylan is very skilled at weaving poignant issues into her novels. The heroine has a strong faith in God, but is not at all "holier-than-thou.: For example, in Chaper Four, she admits that she can’t bring herself to pray for the evil perpetrator who murdered her parents. In “Out of Hiding,” Dylan again shows us her savvy when it comes to unexpected twists and turns. Dylan is a dog lover who includes heartwarming touches relating to dogs, as well. In the future, I would like to see her deal with Fentanyl problem in one of her mysteries.
