On June 18, 1992, Flight 397 crashed off the coast of Long Island. But this story isn’t about the crash. Not completely.
This is a story about two high school seniors living very different lives, who share one connection: they both lost parents on that fateful flight.
Slowly, letters bridge the gap between California and Pennsylvania as Ruby Kaminski and Brett Pratt find a way to remember the past while looking toward the future.
This is a story about hope, paper planes, and the other things they lost.
Paper Planes and Other Things We Lost 💜
Where to start? A heartfelt story that will pull at your heart strings. It leaves you an emotional wreck. Brett and Ruby struggle to overcome their tragic loss and to find their former selves. With each letter they begin to form a bond that grows into something more raw and beautiful. It shows how just simple words in a paper can make an impact for someone that might not know needs it. Looking forward at what might come next. 💋
I am not a crier. Then I started reading this book. It pulled so many emotions out of me! Couldn't put it down! Love, love, love this book!
Paper Planes and Other Things We Lost is not only an amazing love story, but a poignant story of loss and healing. Ruby's quirkiness and her cursing polish grandmother were two of my favorite characters. The prose and story are both captivating and beautiful. I think Miller and Hayes may be my favorite writing partnership to date!
Even though this is the first book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.
