Publisher Description

Hello Mates, my name is Pickles. In 1966, the most famous sports trophy in history, the World Cup, the trophy for soccer’s World Championship

was stolen from an exhibition in downtown London.  After a week long investigation by Scotland Yard, they found nothing.  Seven days after the theft, I found the Cup  under a garden hedge  in SE London.  This part of the story is true.

After overhearing the robbers plotting to steal the World Cup, the 2 Corbett kids, my owners, along with their neighborhood friends and we dogs created a ingenious plan to steal it back. We had hilarious, hair-raising adventures as we recovered the cup and saved the day for England. This part makes for a great story but its not exactly true.

In the story the kids’ friend, Martin Burniston, BBC sports reporter, explains the World Cup to those new to soccer and how important it was to England then he helps helped the kids and us dogs recover the Cup and meet the famous World Cup soccer stars. There’s a shot history of  how soccer was invented then developed and lots of World Cup facts that will amaze even the lifelong soccer fan.

There is even a glossary in the back to provide English to American translation! 10% of all book sales will automatically be donated to help shelter dogs & cats.
