"Pittsun-tsun, pittsun-tsun..." When the children hear the drizzle begin, they grab their rain boots and umbrellas for some rainy day fun! Join them in this playfully illustrated, whimsical outing. Children and adults alike will delight in reading aloud the different sounds of the rain while animated umbrellas twirl, mischievous children jump in puddles, and muddy madness ensues.
The enhanced e-book edition of Pittsun-tsun: The Sounds of a Rainy Day is designed for the iPad and features narration, animation, and interactivity. Children can choose to hear the story read aloud, or read it for themselves. Animations replay with a simple tap. Ideal for children 2-6.
I liked this book much more than I expected to. It is an iBook, so there are a lot of fun little extras with it. It has a narrator, sound effects, and characters that move when you tap them. The animations are very simple, but they are enough to make the book more engaging. The illustrations are simple pencil drawings that are surprisingly charming. My kids really liked this book and had a lot of fun trying to pronounce the rainy day sounds, which are in Japanese. There isn't a story line, but more of a poem-like expression of a rainy day.
A truly clever composition -- complete with animations that will delight the little ones, esp the pre-school age crowd. Love the onomatopoeia amongst the pitter-patter of raindrops. A welcome addition to the library that quickly differentiates itself from usual dr seuss rhyme and rhythm.
This is a whimsical tale with a Japanese twist, where children grab their boots and raincoats and head outside for some rainy day fun. Kids will enjoy it!
