A sizzling, sexy and fun standalone contemporary romance from the #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Big Rock and Full Package!
Once upon a time in New York City, there was a down-on-his-luck actor named Reeve, who was talented and gorgeous in that dreamy, broody sort of way that makes all the women swoon. But show biz is a rough biz - he lost out on a part in a big film, and now his day job hours have been cut too. What's a handsome young thing in need of a role to do? Sign up to be the fake fiancé of the sexy and shrewd casting director Sutton Brenner, who must appear temporarily attached if she's to land a coveted gig casting a red-hot film. So Sutton strikes a pact with Reeve to play the role of her fiancé until she closes the deal. The trouble is - she's sexy-as-hell and damn near irresistible to him. And he's not only a great guy, but also the best dirty talker she's ever met. It doesn't take long for their pretend love affair to heat up, especially after that toe-curling night in the balcony of the Broadway theater. And that scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library.
A red-hot love affair. An intense connection. But as the lines between make-believe and matters of the heart blur, can two people working in the world of acting fake it til they make it?
Fun, captivating book by a favorite author!!
I loved this book. Just loved it! Sutton needed a boyfriend/fiancé to prove to the producers (Janelle and Frederick) of an upcoming film that she could reflect their 'family' values. So Sutton, always good at finding the best actors for the roles she needs to fill on a daily basis as part of her career, decides to find an actor for her personal life which will affect her career! No strings, just for a week. Make it look real. She hires Reeve who is currently not working on Broadway. He knows who Sutton is and he's willing to take on the part. He's exceptionally good at it, charming the sour Janelle and even charming Sutton until she wasn't sure what was real or pretend. Reeve was falling for Sutton, but how did she feel? She ran hot and cold, confusing him. Would these 2 ever get on the same page? Would they ever get a chance at an HEA? Guess you need to read the book!
I received this free book for for an honest review. I enjoyed Reeve, his personality and sexiness drew me in and kept me hooked. The sex between him and Sutton were hot! Fun quick read.
Lines between make-believe and matters of the heart
A Review of Pretending He's Mine by Lauren Blakely
Lines between make-believe and matters of the heart - 5+++++ stars
Sutton Brenner is a casting director, proud of her British heritage. She is one of the top women in her profession of being able to choose the right man for every role that she casts. She has a Chihuahua-Mini-Pin dog named The Artful Dodger. She is trying to win the contract of casting a new movie, Escorted Lives, working with the British twin film financiers Frederick and Nicholas Pinkerton. However, Janelle (wife of Frederick) is the one that really holds the purse strings and she is trying to prevent her husband from working with unattached women. When Sutton is mistakenly thought to be recently engaged, Sutton decides to play along and hire a fiancé until the decision is made.
Reeve Larkin grew up in Ohio with his Father being a cop and his Mother teaching high school English, but his passion was to be an actor. He is currently between acting roles, so he works as a bike messenger to pay the bills. So, Reeve is offered the role by Sutton and things quickly get hot and heavy.
We see Josie in this book (from Josie and Chase's story), as well and Kat and Bryan, which I totally loved. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to any of Ms. Blakely's other books.
