The goal of this book is to provide an Informatics-oriented introduction to programming. The primary difference between a computer science approach and the Informatics approach taken in this book is a greater focus on using Python to solve data analysis problems common in the world of Informatics.
The book is a free and open book and is based on the open book titled: "Think Python: How to Think like a Computer Scientist" by Allen B. Downey.
This version of the book includes multimedia content from Professor Chuck Severance and was converted for the iPad by MPublishing.
What's New in Version 0.0.9
The multimedia content is especially useful. Massive kudos to the author for putting this out there and making it free. This really opens the door for many to learn a great language like python.
This is the textbook used for the Coursera course, Programming for Everybody. It is an excellent beginner’s guide to Python AND programming concepts in general. It is written in a lucid, concise and precise manner, so it is accessible to an absolute beginner (such as myself). The author (professor) makes the books and his videos all available online. I loved the course and enjoyed the book.
