Receiver of Many

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Persephone's life has been one of leisure among the verdant fields: the maiden of flowers, sheltered by her mother, the Harvest Goddess Demeter. Now she is a woman, a goddess in her own right, yearning for freedom even as the terms of an ancient pact are about to come due.

Hades's life has been one of solitude in the somber land of the dead: for millennia he has served as the God of the Underworld, living without attachments, eternally governing the souls of mortals. But he dreams of the young goddess who was promised to be his wife, and knows it is time for his Kingdom to have a Queen.

When Hades arrives to claim his betrothed, he finds a young goddess eager to unearth her divine potential and a powerful mother unwilling to let go. Receiver of Many begins an erotic story of passion and possession, duty and desire, and a struggle that threatens both ancient Greece and the Realm of the Dead itself.

From Publishers Weekly

Jan 11, 2016 – Alexander's crowdfunded debut, an eroticized retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, shows her knowledge of Greek mythology, but she fails to put the power of the legend to good use. This wordy 500-page novel only tells the first half of the story (Destroyer of Light follows in 2016). More importantly, Alexander relies too heavily on creating conflict through people failing to communicate. After Hades kidnaps Persephone, his feelings are so intense that he avoids her, and she feels neglected. Then he refuses to reveal that he arranged the kidnapping because Persephone's mother, Demeter, planned to turn her into a tree to keep them apart. In turn, Persephone refuses to proclaim her love. Even when they become a true couple, the author manufactures another conflict: Hades broods that she will outgrow him while she worries he will resent her. The overwrought dialogue feels like parody ("Your gods... where are they now, priestess?"), and the plot plods along. (BookLife)

I Could Not Put It Down

This book was all I wanted and more! I read it when it was originally on and then when I heard she was going to publish it as a book. I was super excited. I am now excited because I own my own copy of Receiver of Many. I'm so sad that I won't get to read the next one until the spring equinox but I just want to read it right now so bad!!!! Everyone should read it because it is so freaking good! I read it all within the first 48 hours of my download because I could not put it down.

Receiver of Many is an absolute triumph. Alexander has put a brilliant twist on the classic tale of Hades and Persephone, and is sure to keep readers hungry for more. The relationships in this story are realistic and believable, and unlike the often abusive qualities of other literary romantic leading men, Alexander's interpretation of Hades is fair and genuine. One of, if not the best new release in Fall 2015, Receiver of Many is sure to captivate all who read it.

Best interpretation of the Hades and Persephone myth, hands-down

I first got sucked into this when it was on Archive of Our Own, and I still can't get enough of it today. Ms. Alexander is an incredible storyteller who roots her world with well-developed characters and deep research into Ancient Greece and its mythology. A must-read!
