Who says a wild heart can’t be tamed?
For years, I lived for the job and let it control me. Violence was all I knew. I protected, killed, and served. My name is Blake Evans, one of the best undercover cops in the country. I thought I was about to live a quiet life on my ranch in Wyoming until an old friend showed up and changed everything. He brought me her, Hadley Rivers, country music sensation and the one woman I couldn't have. I didn't want her but she had me completely roped in.
My job is to protect her, to keep her away from some psycho who wants her for himself. However, there's more to her story than I was led to believe. I promised to keep her safe and I won't back down . . . even if I have to die trying. I can't let him have her.
Funny, steamy, intriguing, dangerous, loved it!
Roped In by L.P. Dover
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed the blend of danger, and intriguing twists. The heated tempers of both Blake and Hadley lead to some interesting moments. I laughed, was sad, and at times was holding my breath. The perfect blend of sexy and steamy. I could read this again!
Hadley is an up and coming country music star that has been receiving death threats. Her publicist volunteers her pro-hokey brother to pose as her boyfriend to make her unavailable. Threats turn in to actual violence and her father hires a new bodyguard and sends her to Wyoming. Blake doe not want to protect a spoiled, rich, Hollywood star and turns the protection job down, until Hadley is left on his doorstep.
Blake and Hadley are a wonderful couple. Misconceptions by Blake block their relationship, because the sparks fly from the moment they meet each other. Her father goes to extreme lengths to keep her protected and does not know when to stop. A roller coaster ride to the end.
Entertaining story of love, intrigue & danger!
Roped In is an entertaining story of love, intrigue and danger. The chemistry between Hadley and Blake is fantastic, and I liked that they both knew how they felt and what they wanted from the other. Once they got past the initial head-butting, neither of them was afraid to let the other know how they felt. I've read numerous books where the characters kept their true feelings hidden afraid the other wouldn't reciprocate and the omission of that here was a rather refreshing difference. I also loved the hint of danger and intrigue to the storyline which kept me guessing, as well as the uh oh/oh no moments which definitely kept ahold of my undivided attention making it nearly impossible to put my iPad down until I reached the end.
This is the first book I have read from L.P. Dover, but I must say I very much enjoyed her writing style as well as the story as she gives us plenty of nail-biting moments, humor and romance. Roped In seemed to move at a very fast pace keeping me engrossed and capturing my attention from beginning to end. This is the second book in her Armed and Dangerous series, but it can be read as a standalone. Although if you are anything like me, once you read it, you are definitely going to be adding more to your TBR list as you are certainly going to want more.
