This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Fairy tales do come true—and so do tabloid scandals! Bestselling author Marquita Valentine kicks off a juicy contemporary romance series with a novel about a prince whose best-laid plans go deliciously awry when he marries the maid next door.
Forced to flee to the United States with his siblings after their parents’ assassination, Crown Prince Colin Sinclair takes it upon himself to become the caretaker of his family while hiding out near Charlotte, North Carolina. But after a decade in hiding, the secret’s out and Parliament demands that Colin wed a princess of their choosing. Unwilling to play their game, Colin decides to marry an American instead, and he has the perfect candidate in mind.
As a home-service professional, Della Hughes doesn’t believe in storybook endings. But when her best friend and secret crush reveals that he’s a flesh-and-blood prince, she doesn’t know what to think. Still, she’ll do anything for Colin, including becoming his wife—in name only, of course. But when their plans to stay purely platonic go by the wayside, their fake honeymoon turns all too real. After a week of white-hot nights, Della can no longer deny her feelings—not with a happily ever after so tantalizingly close.

Fun Friends to Lovers Romance!
Royal Scandal was a fun friends to lovers romance with a few twists and turns along the way. The book is the first in the new Royals in Exile series which follows the lives of the Sinclair family, but can be read as a stand alone.
The story is told from the alternating view points of Colin Sinclair and Della Hughes. They've been best friends for 10 years, but they've also been secretly in love with each other and too afraid to act on it for fear of ruining their friendship. I liked the back and forth and playful banter between them and it made the reward all that much sweeter when the truth and their feelings were revealed. Della and Colin share some pretty sexy and swoony moments and let's just say I'll meet Colin in the library any day! ;)
Where the story lost me was the details of the Sinclair family history and their sordid past. There was a lot of build-up about the reason why the Sinclair's were exiled and the deaths of their parents, but it all just felt disjointed and confusing when the "truth" was revealed. There wasn't a lot of angst/drama in the story, which I liked, but the drama that was introduced felt forced and rushed.
I did enjoy the secondary characters though like Tressie, Beaumont, and all the other Sinclair siblings, Imogen, Charlotte, Theo, Pierce, and Aiden. They added tender moments and some comic relief as well. The epilogue was sweet and a great introduction to the next book about Charlotte. Overall, I enjoyed Royal Scandal and thought it was a fun and sexy read.

Good start to the new series!
This was a good start to this series. Della and Colin have been best friends for ten years. When Colin finds out he needs to get married, he doesn't want anyone but Della. Colin and Della have never been more than friends in the ten years they have known each other, but they are the best of friends. When they exchange vows, suddenly all of the feelings they have been fighting come to the surface. They find out that perhaps they can have a happily ever after.
I liked this story and thought it was a great story to kick off a new series. Della is a strong heroine. Colin is a stand up guy and presents himself as the perfect royal. I loved getting to know the Sinclair family and look forward to all of their stories.
A great start to a new series from this author! This was a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to more about this fabulous Sinclair family. It's filled with wonderful characters, has an interesting storyline, and is very well written. There are secrets, lies, scandal, and a wonderful friends to lovers romance. I loved Della's sass and wit and I though she and Colin were great together. Della's upbeat personality and Colin's stoic nature were a perfect balance. Definitely a book I would recommend to everyone.
